The Role
I have really enjoyed working for a large tech consulting company and experiencing all the opportunities and challenges that came with it. These challenges made me step out of my comfort zone and developed my character and skills beyond what I knew about myself. The Accenture community is like nothing I have experienced before, and truly unique. I would like to express my gratitude for the training and volunteering opportunities provided by the firm. Throughout the year I was able to develop my technical and other transferable skills. Most of the trainings were free to me and I learned a lot about emerging technologies.
The Accenture community is like nothing I have experienced before, and truly unique. They were all friendly and helpful. They always allocate time to answer your questions. During my placement, I was doing the work of a full-time employee and they never treated me as an intern, this gave an exposure of what the real work experience would look like.
I had a project supervisor and mentor throughout my placement. The project supervisor dealt with all my problems in the project and approve any training without affecting the project. He was kind enough to let me attend so many training to develop my technical knowledge. My Mentor, on the other hand, answered all my questions and guide me in the right direction to get my self into a suitable project.
I was fully occupied throughout the day and my supervisor constantly checked with me to see if I am okay to handle the work. They were cautious enough to not to stress my self with some overwhelming work. In my second project, I was learning about SAP with the help of the development team, even though I was doing project management work. My supervisor was kind enough to let me learn something in my free time. I wasn't stressed through these 12 months and I have to say that I enjoyed more than my university.
In my first project, I was responsible for the other apprentices in my project. I was mentoring them and teaching them about the platform we were using. I also had to make sure they finish their tasks on deadline. In my second project, I took full responsibility to generate automated reports and managing the offshore resources. I really enjoyed it as I experienced their culture and diversity.
I used my placement year to learn about technologies (AWS, AI, SAP etc.) which would be beneficial in the long run. I wanted to do a technical and managerial role to figure out which role to pursue after my graduation. I was lucky enough to do managerial and technical role during my placement. These 2 roles developed many of my soft skills, such as: Business awareness Presentation Communication Teamwork etc. Other than work I also attended a few volunteering days to give back something to the community. I really enjoyed these opportunities. There are also communities like LGBT, mental health allies etc.
The Company
It was a quite chilled and friendly atmosphere. There were so many networking events and you can go to someone and ask questions if you have any, which I found really useful. Never felt like I was working from 9to5 as I enjoyed what I was doing because of these friendly and amazing people.
Overall, it was good, but they need to make sure we were given a project after our 1-month training, as some people were on the bench for quite some time. There were plenty of events just for interns to just to get familiar with the firm. We had a review session after 6 months to see if we were enjoying.
They invest a lot of money in you. I was lucky enough to do attend many training as I wanted to learn more. Throughout the year, I attended trainings for Java, AI, BPM etc. If you want to learn about technology X, you can have a conversation with your mentor and he will point out to the right direction and push yourself to get certified in that technology.

It is very appealing and I wanted to go back as I have made so many connections and learning opportunities is a big plus point. You have the freedom to try out different roles to figure out what you want to do. This is essential for someone just started their career.
The Culture
Yes, we normally meet after work once in a while and the firm provided some networking events just for interns and during this time we normally discuss our role.
The first project was in London, so it was expensive! The second project was outside London, and it was so cheap! Nightlife in here was non-existent. Always pindrop silence after 10 pm. The people here were so nice and greet you. I was staying in a hotel and the firm paid all my expenses.
I stayed outside London to save some bits, so I didn't go to most of them, but overall nightlife is really good in London and expensive enough for interns to not to attend. In my second project, nightlife was nonexistent and I didn't go out for most of the time.
There were a lot of networking events, communities, volunteering opportunities and so on. The firm gives 3 paid volunteering days and I used 2 days. There are communities like LGBT+ and mental health. They had their events where you can hear out other people's experiences and how to overcome these situations. I would encourage anyone joining Accenture to become Mental heal and LGBT ally. Just these training are worth to join the firm.
