The Role
J.P. Morgan offers the possibility to gain more than a working experience. The company invests in the candidate with training courses, networking events and social events. This is essential to learn more about the business, develop your knowledge but also to get to know employers from all over the firm.
Throughout my internship I felt that my colleagues have respected me and have valued my work. At the beginning of the internship the candidate get assigned a variety of projects. Every colleague has spent time to train me and to help me deliver the best quality work. This applies to employees not also at a junior but also at a senior level.
I received full support from my managers throughout my time at J.P. Morgan. It is very useful to have different advisors. Receiving support from a buddy, a direct manager and a senior mentor has allowed me to get different feedbacks and advice on my development. In particular, each supervisor has had a distinct role in my internship. Whilst the manager has offered more support on the work and projects, my buddy and my senior mentor has helped to understand ho the firm operations and the career prospects offered at J.P. Morgan.
During my time at J.P. Morgan, I was constantly busy. Every day I had to work on my long-term projects and the ad-hoc requests. I could individually decide how much time to allocate to each task and when to conduct work. Everyday I also had multiple meetings, calls, and networking events. At J.P. Morgan, the daily routine is busy but extremely variant.
During my internship I was given an extremely high level of responsibility. I had the chance to own my own projects and tasks. For instance, I was responsible for conducting analysis and market research, set up calls to share my analysis, draw conclusions and share them to the wider tea and implement them.
During my internship I have developed some key knowledge and skills. I have reinforced my time-management, organisation and my teamwork skills. Back at University I could work more consistently over the term, without having to cope with a particularly high level of stress before the assignment. I also learned how to divide the work in a team more effectively and the importance of setting targets and milestones and keep each team member aware of the progress of my own work.
The Company
In my office the atmosphere was vibrant and dynamic. Generally it was characterised by very busy moments, when my co-workers were involved in daily calls and meetings and moments when my colleagues where working individually or as a team on a project. Regardless of the time of the day, everyone has been extremely approachable and willing to help. Overall, the atmosphere is characterised by cooperation and willingness to help each other.
The organisation of the internship was excellent. The work each candidate was assigned, could be perfectly completed in the 10 weeks available. I have also found very useful to meet my manager weekly to assess my progression and receive feedback. I also leveraged the mid-internship review to assess my strengths and weaknesses and take action on the latter before the end of my internship.

Working from home
I find the career opportunities at J.P. Morgan extremely appealing. After interacting with colleagues who have worked for the company for a prolonged time period, I became aware that J.P. Morgan offers internal mobility opportunities and international experiences. Whilst you could grow vertically in a specific team, I find extremely appealing the possibility to perform different roles and work in different countries.
The Culture
Where J.P. Morgan is based, in Canary Wharf, the nightlife is limited. nevertheless, the areas offers many restaurants and pubs nearby. These are open all week and tend to be open till midnight and beyond. The area also offers good connections to central London, where the nightlife is more active.
