About You
Thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Linklaters. I both furthered my understanding of corporate law in a setting beyond theoretical but also made mentors with whom I am still in touch with today. I found the work I undertook to be a reflection of the work trainees would regularly undertake; providing me with an accurate account of the life of a trainee at Linklaters.
Thoroughly enjoyed my time at Linklaters, I felt like a valued member of the Linklaters community throughout. Everyone from Partners to trainees were invested in ensuring that I had a good time and that my experience reflected working at the firm.
I received bundles of support both during the insight scheme and beyond. Since the completion of my insight scheme I have remained in touch with various members of the Linklaters community who have advised and mentored me throughout my degree.
The work I partook in as a Linklaters insight candidate has provided me with an insight into the work a trainee would undertake. This work also placed my theoretical knowledge of the law into a practical and commercial context. I now feel supported and prepared to go further in my career.
The Company
Very well structured. The insight scheme was composed various commercially focused workshops and time in practice. The candidates were given a timetable at the start of the week and were responsible for ensuring that we attended all the various sessions.
From the moment I had walked through the Linklaters doors I was greeted with similes and friendly faces that I am still in touch with today. This has allowed me to grasp a feel of the firms culture and has allowed me to see what culture I would thrive in, in a future firm.
The commercially focused workshops were incredibly insightful and provided me with an insight into the new bespoke application process and how to present myself in a commercial setting.
Significantly, the work I undertook simulated the role of a trainee at Linklaters. All work was insightful and helped me understand where the gaps in my knowledge lay.
Extremely helpful in understanding the firms culture. This aided me in ensuring that this firm was the right firm for me. Everyone in the offices were keen to help you progress as they can appreciate what a stressful time in your career this can be; they were all very willing to give up their time to chat over coffee/lunch and their advice has been invaluable.
Very insightful, I now have a clear idea of the environment I would thrive in as a trainee and have gained a clearer understanding of the type of corporate law I am interested in.
Everything Else
I was placed into accommodation in central London which was a short tube ride from the Linklaters offices.
While in practice we were encouraged to network with our departments team, this provided us with an opportunity to network with other lawyers in that field.
On the first evening we had a networking event with our fellow insight scheme candidates and the graduate recruitment team. This provided us with an opportunity to ask our burning questions about the new application process in an informal and stress free environment.
I had a chance to talk to various lawyers who were part of the various Linklaters committees and teams on offer.
Yes I would, and have, recommended this experience to a friend.
