The Role
As there are only around 20 people in my team we all knew each other very well and I felt valued by each of them - this made it easier to approach team members if I had a question or issue.
A lot of interns were assigned a supervisor when we first started - I however did not. This did not affect my role & if I needed support or guidance it was always available from my manager or other team members.
Due to my role being event's based, how busy I was daily varied over the year (there was a lot more work & I was constantly busy around these times & had no time for other project involvement)
As before, depending on the project I was working on, responsibility was varied throughout the year.
I believe the skills I have developed have prepared me for applying for jobs & future working life. Also doing a placement year has allowed me to control my time management - which I will put into practice when returning to university as well as understanding business activity & putting university studies/theories into real life situations.
The Company
As most of my team were office based the office always had people about. There were vast age ranges - but everyone got a long & it was a laid back atmosphere.
The placement was very well set up. We had an open day before we started work which allowed us to get to know the other interns & plan our living arrangements. When we started we were given training to ensure we were prepared for our roles.
Intel provided lots of training classess through the year (not only when we started) e.g. presentation skills & excel training.

Unlikely, as my team has a very small headcount they rarely take on graduates.
The Culture
Yeah, the social aspect outside of work is really good. We have a social committee who arrange activities for all the interns to do. Things as an intern group which we have done include nights out in different cities, a trip to Amsterdam, a holiday to Romania then after work things such as cinema & bowling! Also there are also other activities organised by Intel which are for all employees to take part in e.g. go karting!
As I go to university in Newcastle I expected the living costs down south to be more expensive - however my rent in Swindon is a lot cheap than what I paid at university. (£275 each per month for a new 4 bed house!)
The nightlife in Swindon is not great - however as we have 60+ interns we usually end up having a good night out!!!
Yeah there were a variety of things for the interns to get involved with e.g. netball, football & karting.
