The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Since the first day, the firm entrusted us interns with meaningful work and our inputs were discussed collectively. Moreover, everyone in the office was social, joining in team building activities and dinners etc, and this allowed everyone to build rapport and thereafter, approach each other for help and advice.
Even though we were only interns, all our inputs are taken seriously by the seniors. In some cases, we were also free to share our thoughts on weekly meetings and casual conversations. More importantly aside from these inputs, my supervisors actively provided feedback on my work, allowing me to progress as a trainee.
I think what the firm did in terms of overall support from its full time stuff could not have been better. Since joining on the first day, it was made know to us who we should reach out to with regards to specific questions etc. This certainly made the job more efficient.
Everyday was different in terms of the variety of tasks we had to handle on job. We were given work on a daily basis, and I feel that it is imperative for self-advance that we read up on industry specific report and analysis during idle periods when we were awaiting feedback from our supervisors.
I was given as much responsibility as I could as far as our credentials as interns go. We helped our supervisors to conduct research on industry specific information, perform some basic analysis of data, and most importantly, our opinions on a specific piece of news or tasks are taken seriously and considered by our respective supervisors.
I acquired both hard-skills in terms of industry specific knowledge, which will remain valuable for me throughout the rest of my career. More importantly, it was the soft-skills I acquired, due to the environment that I was exposed to, which nurtured a sense of excellence in me that will be forever etched in my mind.
The Company
Everyone was hardworking and supportive. The best happens when all bright minds come together. People were always up for coffees where you can talk about just anything aside from work and often, you will realise that people care about you and are always ready to provide support or guidance if required.
Kudos to the HR team which planned out the entirety of the placement, from the first day to our exit interviews. The logistics behind them were by no means easy and I was impressed by the organised manner of which the team handled the duration of the internship. Big thank you.
I cannot understate the resources that the firm was ready to put into each and every intern.
Subsidised Canteen
I think the department that I interned in has amazing career prospects in stall for everyone who interned there.
The Culture
Everyone was open and friendly, ready to go for coffees and the occasional after work dinner. Even on weekends, we do meet up for drinks etc.
I lived in London so it was pretty costly in terms of socialising and recreational activities.
London has nightlife activities that caters to everyone. You can either hit up a bar or visit the museum after work.
Many opportunities including volunteering. In fact, we went on a volunteering day trip as part of the company's CSR.
