The Role
I have enjoyed my placement so far as they have given me the chance to do many thing and expand my skills. I have gained confidence and knowledge from working at Randstad. It has given me insight to what working life would be in my degree. I believe I have learnt more working at Randstad than I have in my degree.
I feel very valued as I am not seen as a placement student or a student but seen as a normal employee. I did not feel like this in my previous job, so it really has opened my eyes. They let me speak my mind and share ideas I have for the company or the team to move forward.
I am constantly given guidance and support from my team and management. I have regular one to one meetings with my manager and I work along side my team who are constantly there to give me advice or any help I may need with the projects I work on on.
There have been very busy periods where I constantly have something going on and some periods where it may be quite quiet. The jobs I have been given are normal employee jobs not jobs you would think a placement student would receive such as making coffee for example stereotypical things.
I am given a lot of responsibility like making contracts for employees, making calls, organising team day outs and many other things. Other things I would be helping on would be pay increases, salary issues and assisting in note taking for disciplinary meetings. My role would consist of normal day to day things my seniors would be doing.
I believe this work experience year has set me up for what working in the real world would be like. Since I am considered as normal employee it really has showed to me to take responsibility for my own projects and build confidence to speak to anyone. It has also showed me that I am capable of doing many things I would not think of.
The Company
My office is the head office for the company which means that it is a professional area but we were allowed to dress casual which was a bonus. The people here are very friendly and inviting. When working at the pods it can be quiet sometimes but it is very talkative a lot of the time.
It has been organised as much as it can be. This would be because of work depends on what is happening in the company a lot of things are not planned so it would depend on what queries and issues would be happening in the office or in the branches.
The company has invested time, money and lot of energy into me. This reason of this would be the salary they are paying me and the money they use to send me to see different parts of the company and what other areas there are. They have invested in me by shaping me into what they would want as a employee.

They are very appealing as I am very interested in returning to Randstad. I believe I can see a future here and I can see myself growing and exceeding here in my career. I am able to see myself coming back to Randstad and doing a good job in my role.
The Culture
We had a induction meeting for just placement students which we got to meet everyone who is in the same programme as us. We wouldn't meet very often as our roles are very apart from each other. There are a few placement students in each branch and I was quite lucky to have another student in my team which helped a lot.
I live in the town where my placement is so I am local to area. The town isn't very expensive as there is a few things to do, there is a mall, bowling alley, cinema, trampolining area and many restaurants to eat at. There are quite a lot of clubs in the town also.
There are a few clubs in the town itself and there are a lot pubs also so the night life is okay. There are quite a lot of place to go visit that are near Luton and are accessible from the train station. So there is always something that can be done.
There were, the team would have monthly day outs with each other. This would be having brunch with each other or going to London as a team. We also had charity days out which we would spend the day helping a local charity which was a lot of fun .
