The Role
So far i am really enjoying my placement. Over the time i have been here i have learnt many new skills that i will carry on to enhance throughout my future career. For example, i have learnt how to effectively screen a candidate, match the correct skills and experience on a candidates CV to what is required for a job role and learn how to use business systems such as GR8 People.
I feel very valued by my team members. I have been involved in meetings and making business decisions. I have also started working on projects with other members of my team. Furthermore, my colleagues value my opinion a lot especially on subjects such as placements as i am a placement student myself and can give my view.
I have been given excellent support and guidance from my managers. I have had induction training teaching me about the business and what it takes to be a successful recruiter. Within my first few days i sat one on one with each member of my team and they talked me through their role and what they do. I also had opportunities to shadow candidate prescreening so i could utilise those skills learnt when i began doing it myself. I was also thoroughly taught how to use business systems. If i am struggling with anything my manager and team are always there to help me and answer any queries that i have.
On a daily basis i am very busy. I have a certain number of job roles personally set to me which i have to get through in a day. I also have project tasks on the side that i am expected to complete.
I am given a lot of responsibility whilst completing my placement year. I have set job roles that i am responsible for processing and prescreening candidate applications for, which are then passed on to interview with my hiring manager.
The skills and training that i have learnt will definitely assist me in my degree as i study business management and human resources which links extremely well with recruitment. It will also aid me in writing my dissertation as i have seen the theory that i have learnt in my lectures be put to practise in a real organisation.
The Company
The atmosphere of my office was fun and full of life. Everyone is very friendly and will always make an effect to say hello. There is always music playing and people being lively!
The overall set up for my placement was very organised, i had contact with the business throughout the whole process through texts, emails and phone calls. I was also contacted very quickly after my application was made.
They invested in my greatly, at the start of my placement i went on a 2 day training course learning all the skills i need to be a successful recruiter. I am also going on another training programme that the company offer all new employees called RISE training.

Future employment prospects with the organisation are very appealing. I have really enjoyed my placement so far and am strongly considering the role that i currently have as the start to my future career.
The Culture
Yes there is an excellent social scene amongst colleagues. We make a conscious effect to go out as a team and do team activities after work! Within my first week we all went out for drinks and went to a karaoke bar! We also go to a food market called leather lane every friday as a team.
I currently am living at home and commuting to Central London. If you were to live in London the cost of living may be quite high. When out drinks are also London prices. Although this is not a bad thing there are many places to explore and you get to enjoy the buzz of London!
Socialising in the area is excellent, there are many bars, clubs and pubs to go to. Right next to the office there is an interactive ping pong bar! It is also very near Farringdon station so you can get the tube to anywhere you want to go in London!
There has been lots of opportunities to get involved in activities! The company has annual conferences that you are invited too. We also have a christmas party for the business and a christmas party within my team. The company also owns a boat called the clipper that sales around the world and which we are all invited to go on when it is docked in London.
