The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at KB! I was able to experience a large number of different HR related tasks and was given large amounts of responsibility when completing these tasks. Everybody in the company was extremely welcoming and accepting of the placement students. Overall I would recommended KB to anyone wanting a placement
The team was amazing! Although there were some changes to the team during my time there, this never affected my relationship with them. Everyone was so helpful and was supportive in any areas that I needed it. The team really worked well together and I was accepted as a full member of the team even though I was only there for 1 year
Extremely supported. Although I had independence on the work I was doing I always knew I could go to my manager for help and guidance whether it was related to a work task or a personal issue. I was always consulted on what I would like to learn or areas I wanted to develop
The nature of the role meant that I was always busy as it was treated as a normal member of the HR team. There were times that I was more busy than others but overall there was a good balance
Many of the projects I worked on I was solely responsible for and my manager/team supported me in being able to complete more complex tasks
The role was extremely varied and so I was exposed to lots of different areas which enabled me to build my knowledge and skills which will be useful in a future HR career
The Company
The HR team were in their own office and because the team was so close the atmosphere was quite relaxed and fun The office was also next to a large open plan office which contained a few other departments and socialisation between everyone was encouraged
The placements at KB don’t follow a set placement programme, they are more like full time jobs. This sometimes meant that the experience of placement students in different areas of the business differed
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
KB do offer graduate schemes but only for specific areas of the business if there is a need. There is no set future opportunities
The Culture
There were 17 placement students and many lived together so we did tend to socialise together quite a lot. Specific teams also socialised together as well
Cost of living was around average for the South West. Socialising was towards the higher end as the main locations were Bath and Bristol
There wasn’t much nightlife in the local area but Bath and Bristol are easy to get to
There were both Badminton and football clubs that were run by employees. There was also groups within the Company e.g a choir
