    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed the year. Lovely colleagues, interesting work and great work-life balance. Hope to go back.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel like my colleagues valued me and they were treated me very well however I think it can sometimes be hard to feel valued when some of the work is so technical and so difficult to get as involved in as you’d like.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Personally my manager was excellent in managing me and was always open to help me/provide me with any support. Not sure if this was the case for everyone.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Depended on the time of year. My directorate was affected by brexit in that lots of work was halted until we knew exactly what deal we would get. Would have enjoyed more work within my own team but it’s always possible to find work/people to help so wasn’t quiet for long when I was.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel quite a lot by the end. Although I would say more responsibility would probably have been given to me in other less technical areas.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very much so; soft skills improved massively. Was completely technologically illiterate prior to my placement; now extremely confident on Excel and able to code on R. Great for development, wasn’t just stuck doing grunt work.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great; everyone lovely

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Don’t find out about graduate offers until January. Extremely poor decision as lots of placement students that have had money and time spent on training them now not returning to the Bank we don’t want the job insecurity. Aside from that silly decision was well organised.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lots of opportunities for training but very little specifically organised for placements which I would recommend

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    Travel loan

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very much so; extremely interest in the work undertaken. Annoying you don’t find out if you can return until January.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Definitely; everyone lovely and sociable

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London’s expensive especially compared to home but if you want to work in finance it’s what you should expect

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London’s London

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Quite a few; you had to pay more than normal employees annoyingly and the sports club is out of the way but nevertheless.

    3/5
