About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my Vacation Scheme at Latham & Watkins, the two-weeks were well structured, engaging and it was great to experience the culture of the firm!
Everyone I met at Latham & Watkins were friendly and helpful, I did not feel that the firm had any particular hierarchy but rather that trainees, associates and partners were all interested in getting to know you.
Both of my supervisors really made an effort. I felt that I got the perfect balance of guidance, they gave me the tools and support to enjoy the research task we were given. The graduate recruitment team were also really helpful!
The two-weeks were invaluable to me, while the vacation scheme was not the only one I did this year, it was by far the most interesting and fun!
The Company
The two weeks were extremely well structured, I felt that there was a good balance between practice area talks and the time left to work on the assignments given and get to know your supervisor. We also had some fun activities which was a good opportunity to get to know other students on the scheme.
The atmosphere was amazing. I genuinely felt that everyone I met at the firm appreciated their job, worked hard because they enjoyed their job and everyone was really friendly and quite relaxed despite it being a top firm! The culture of the firm is great.
The firm organised a number of practice area talks which I thought was a great way of getting to know the firm. Both of my supervisors also made a lot of effort in trying to show me how they work and the tasks I was given helped me both in terms of my personal development and training.
While it is always hard to know exactly what a fulltime role with the company will be like after a two-week placement, it did give me a real sense of the firm and what it, hopefully, will be like working there!
Getting to know the company culture of Latham & Watkins was my highlight during the vacation scheme, everyone was really friendly and seemed to enjoy their job, they also made an effort in trying to get to know you and to make you feel part of the culture.
I was very valuable and resulted in me joining the firm!
Everything Else
We were paid for the two weeks spent at the firm.
The firm organised lunches, an amazing dinner and other social events during the two-weeks. These socials were both with other trainees, associates and the graduate recruitment team. I really enjoyed it!
The social events were great. I got to speak to people working at the firm and it felt a little bit more relaxed which was good, it was a good opportunity to ask the questions you may not ask at a practice area talk but rather just an opportunity to have a friendly conversation.
Yes, we did get to know that some of the associates had just been skiing which sounded like lots of fun!
I would highly recommend a vacation scheme at Latham & Watkins, it was one of the most interesting and fun two weeks I've had this year!
