The Role
So much responsibility and opportunities to shine. There is a real, family feel community within early in career at Microsoft. The supporting staff are amazing and always smiling. They help with the worries and pressure of working for such a large company.
The vast majority of employees are extremely kind and trust the work that you do. There are many project teams to join and valuable work to be completed. Managers seem to have very good training and care a lot about the experience of the early in career employees.
While I didn't have a regular meeting slot with my manager, he would always make time for me when I needed help. I worked better that way than regular meetings, I much preferred getting on with my work and going to him when I encounter a problem or have a question.
You are as busy as you want. I didn't have daily tasks to do, instead I would have to go and find work so the more engaged you are and keen, the more work you end up with. There was never a shortage of work, you would just need to go out and find it.
I had my own accounts to look after, but this wasn't given to me or planned. I asked for these and fortunately my manager believed in me and was happy to give me extra responsibility.
They have made me a far better student. My motivation to do well is through the roof and I feel far more mature having experienced working in industry.
The Company
A collection of intelligent and happy people. I could always go and ask questions and people would be very happy to help. Brilliant atmosphere to work in. However, due to the ability to work remotely, sometimes there wouldn't be many people in the office, especially towards the end of the week. This left a very quiet office space which would make the atmosphere feel a bit lonesome.
A small plan was in place for me but at times it was very much, "let's roll with it and see what suits you the most" which I was happy with and forced me to engage with all my employees. However, this was incredibly difficult at the start when I didn't know how the company worked nor who did what role. Perhaps a little more of a plan/guidance from senior figures would have helped me settle in quicker.
Exams were available for interns to take which would be free. These exams provided very valuable certificates if passed. A number of training days were also ran.

Very appealing. The roles on offer at Microsoft are varied and offer a great chance to develop your skills with the right support.
The Culture
Yes, football teams to join. Socials at fellow interns houses and end of year parties etc.
Reading is not the cheapest. I lived at home in Slough so I can't say for certain the cost of living and socialising. However, when working in London it's not cheap at all.
I didn't really experience it. Others would describe it as okay but not great.
Yes, football and other sports to be played. Also, many groups to chat about certain technologies/real world issues.
