The Role
I realy enjoyed my placement year with Randstad - this definitely comes from the amount of training and support Randstad provide you with. Additionally, I enjoyed it because of the huge responsibility I was given, from start to finish - for me, this was a massive incentive and motivational drive for me.
I did feel valued by my colleagues at work - we all helped each other with our own work, and if somebody was behind on anything, we would always support each other to make sure the task was completed on time and to a high standard. We were all there for each other and supported one another.
I was given so much support and guidance by my line manager, but also by their line manager and by their line manager. We had a close team and I felt comfortable enough to approach senior staff with queries or questions because they supported us, to make sure the best was taken out of every situation.
I was very busy - every day. It was rare that there wouldn't be anything to do, but this is why I enjoyed the role so much. It was very varied and you were doing different tasks everyday. For me, this was great because I was never bored or unexcited with my work!
Massive responsibility! You are provided with training and support throughout and nothing ever feels too much because I knew I had a support network around me that I could talk to and put a plan of action in to place. Responsibility is a huge motivation for me, so I loved this aspect of the role.
Genuinely skills for life... as I look back and reflect on all the work I did at Randstad, as I am updating my CV, LinkedIn, and brainstorming scenarios - I realise what a wide range of transferable skills I have gained, over and above those I have learnt whilst at university. It excites me that I can talk about these scenarios in future job applications, to showcase my abilities.
The Company
Randstad do invest a substantial amount of money/time into investing in it's people through regular training sessions both at my office and within our teams, to the wider meetings, such as the placement cohort in Luton HQ. This also ranges between weekly catch ups with your line manager at first to monthly 1-2-1's and 'skip sessions' with your line managers, manager.
