    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Over my time at British Airways I gained a great insight into what aviation has to offer which will help with deciding on future career moves. As well as this I learnt and demonstrated a range of skills that will be invaluable for my future career.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I can not fault my coworkers. They were supportive, knowledgeable, lovely to be around and overall made my placement highly enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My mangers were very supportive with my future development by allowing me to explore the breadth of aviation through shadowing as well as challenging me in my role to ensure I learnt and made the most out of my time there.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The scheme is really what you make of it. If you keep organised and motivated you will be sure to fill all your time without it spilling into your own personal time.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was tasked with leading projects and managing important pieces of work which saw me networking with a host of colleagues from all over the business and in a variety of roles.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My studies have been vastly positively effected by giving myself a stronger work ethic, a greater knowledge base to help with my assignments and with regard to career I have been fast tracked through graduate applications and upon being successful will return back to British Airways after my final year at university.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My office had a very friendly but also professional feel, which made me feel both comfortable but also a step away from uni by being in a corporate environment.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We had a very clear structure to the year with a week long induction, regular meetings and a graduate application process at the end.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • This varies greatly by role. For me formal training was not appropriate so whilst learning on the job I was encouraged to build upon myself and track this using formal appraisals.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • British Airways has a strong history of investing in their employees. As well as amazing graduate schemes they encourage colleagues to learn new skills and move around the business to see where fits the individual best if appropriate.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • When joining everyone becomes a member of the emerging talent committee that put on forums, skill bytes and social events to get to know the many individuals working at British Airways.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Being in the south and very close to London it honestly can’t be said that accommodation and transport is cheap. However, by being on the outskirts of London this allows many options for employees to be based and allows great transport links that make it easy to get to work as well as the option to socialise outside of London where it is cheaper.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Due to all employees being based in so many areas this question is not quite applicable as it relates to many different areas.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Brithsih Airways offers all employees to be part of a variety of sporting teams and volunteering opportunities. On top of this individual departments put on events etc outside of work.
