The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed the placement - given ample opportunity to meet people across the business and get involved with very interesting projects.
Very valued - the work was meaningful and of value to the team. As a result, you felt like you were truly a team member as opposed to an intern.
Manager was extremely supportive and always willing to spend time giving me guidance and advice.
The degree to which I was busy varied on a day-to-day basis. Overall, I found that I had enough work to justify the hours worked. Equally, there were quite periods and busier periods.
Fair amount of responsibility and autonomy given on certain projects. The degree of responsibility I was given was dependent on the specific project and the required real estate knowledge.
The Company
Offices were quiet due to the pandemic but, amongst those who were there, the atmosphere was good.
Very well organised. Especially given the virtual nature of the internship in the beginning, abrdn did brilliantly in keeping us engaged.
Ample online resources and weekly training sessions on key skills (e.g. excel).

The Culture
Whilst it's difficult to have a social scene with everyone working virtually, we still managed to meet up socially and develop friendships.
