About You
The Summer Insight Week was amazing. All people from Bloomberg are really kind and here to help, give insights with respect to Bloomberg, application process, entry position, etc. In addition to this, other candidates are really smart and from diverse background, diverse culture, which makes the interactions definitely interesting and enriching.
During the week, we are constantly valued by employees from Bloomberg at every levels. Not only employees but also our colleagues which value your work and your questions. In particular concerning the week project. In fact, the project is at the end of the week presented to Team Leaders and candidates, which is really rewarding and we feel definitely valued.
We are always helped, guided and supported by people responsible for the insight week like HRs, Team Leaders and presenters. Not only them but also every employees from Bloomberg we meet during the week and even current interns. They answer all of our questions and usually go beyond our interrogations.
During the insight week, we are trained every day on various topics related to Bloomberg, Bloomberg Terminal and Finance. I knew nothing in Finance, but I was really interested in, and at the end of the week, I learnt so much. Also, they teach us many functionalities on the Bloomberg Terminal, and also the application process and general career related advices.
The Company
The Insight Week is perfectly structured. We are given at the beginning of the week a scheduled which is really packed. The order of activities and workshops is well designed since something learnt in the morning of day n, will be used in the afternoon of day n, and in day n+1 etc.
The atmosphere of the insight week is really friendly and we really feel that all the people from Bloomberg are here to support us to learn more about Bloomberg, finance, and also to get an internship. The other candidates are just awesome and really friendly. It is easy to exchange with them.
I am convinced that Bloomberg did invest a lot in our training just for the week. Basically, this week is just about training in Bloomberg related topics, finance, sales, and careers related topics. Also, in interpersonal development. For example, we had several events to socialise and to network with currents interns and employees.
It was one of the purpose I applied to this week. In fact, it was really insightful and interesting. I realised that in fact, a career path at Bloomberg is not generically defined, but you have to define it by yourself. So they cannot really define it for you, they always mention that you have to make your own path at Bloomberg.
The insight week made me understand perfectly the Bloomberg's culture. We even had a specific presentations on this, and we had everyday recalls on their culture and what they really value. This is really insightful since the website cannot provide such informations. I think that this week is essential to really understand Bloomberg's culture and values.
The content of the week was definitely essential. And this is why I applied to this week. I was hesitating between Global Data and Analytics and Sales, but after all the presentations, exchanging with employees and even the other candidates, I managed to make a clear choice about which department I was suiting to.
Everything Else
Everything is taken in charge by Bloomberg. From traveling from your home (Eurostar for me) to London, to accommodation (we were in a hotel a roughly one mile away from the office). They also provide some prepaid tickets for food, and they pay for activities during the week (we had a party for example).
The summer insight week is all about networking, socialising with employees and candidates. We had for example a networking event with the current interns and summer insight week interns from past years. Also, every people you meet is keen to give you more informations and keep in touch with you.
Networking and social events were amazing. In particular, we had this party at Bounce with other interns and summer insight week candidates which was absolutely awesome. Everything is taken in charge by Bloomberg. In addition to this, we had a networking evening at the end of the week with a very nice buffet.
There are many activities that employees can get involved in outside of work, but those activities are for permanent employees, not the summer insight week interns. However, they mentioned it several times through presentation, and in particular during the Bloomberg's culture presentation in which they presented the different communities and philanthropy activities.
I would definitely recommend this to friends and I have already done it. This week is an amazing opportunity to discover Bloomberg and to get fast track to the best internship. Also, it teaches candidates so many insights regarding careers and job applications, finance world and other topics generally useful.
