About You
I really enjoyed my vacation scheme with CMS. I feel that I got to learn a lot about a lot of different areas of the legal profession. The whole experience felt very open and I got to meet a diverse range of people which really added to the experience.
I felt very valued. The first week was in London and they covered accommodation cost and this investment really made us Scottish participants feel valued. During the vacation scheme the early talent team were always making sure we were comfortable in our placement seat and if they could help with anything.
As I said above, the guidance and support was second to none to be honest. The early talent team really were so good at supporting us throughout the three weeks and gave us guidance on what our future at the firm could be which was really exciting. My team itself were also very supportive and gave a lot of feedback.
I would say the skills were definitely very focused on ourselves as professionals. I am unsure how they would fit into my degree studies but I felt the skills learned will really benefit myself when it comes to working at the firm and being a lawyer and young professional.
The Company
The first week was the business of law week which was full of workshops and panels to give us an insight into the profession and the skills which were needed to succeed. The two weeks following we got to work in the business of law and this structure was very good in teaching us the theory and basics and then throwing us in.
The team and everyone in the firm was very friendly and always available for a chat if needed. Although everyone was busy with work, they would squeeze in time to make sure you were okay which was very nice as a student. The other participants as well were keen to meet everyone and get to know each other as we will possibly be colleagues in the future.
