The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Pernod Ricard UK. I could not have asked for a better company to be apart of. The reputation of the company is second to none and the office environment is professional but welcoming. I learnt so much while also being able to showcase the skills I already had.
I was welcomed with open arms by the entire company but especially my team. I quickly felt like part of a very close family where everyone helped each other out. The phrase one team one dream was used often and people really lived by that. I was allowed to contribute to projects straight away and my opinion always felt valued.
My manager supported me through out my entire time at Pernod Ricard UK. I received training to develop my technical skills so I always felt prepared for the tasks that I was given. I was also given a lot of guidance on how the wider business operated as well as how to conduct myself with in certain office situations.
When I first started my role I did find I had some down time on my hands as I was getting to grips with my daily tasks and started to get comfortable in my surroundings. I was eased into my role nicely with my manager not piling on the work but as I got comfortable the workload was increased and I was challenged on how much I could handle.
As the months went on I was increasingly given more and more responsibility. It started of with small things to start with but once I proved I could handle it these tasks quickly became more and more important. From Setting up and monitoring advertisement campaigns to the analysis of our performance over certain periods.
This is hard for me to say as I joined Pernod Ricard UK as a post Grad having already completed my degree. I definetly think that the skills I learnt would have benefited me greatly in my degree, not only the technical skills and business understanding which I gained but the my overall work ethic improved dramatically.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great. It was a laid back environment where as long you got your work done and tried hard the company was more than willing to be flexible. As it is an alcohol company you can imagine a very fun environment where no one took themselves seriously and everyone is very approachable.
I thought it was very organised. I can not of a single thing in terms of organisation that went throughout my entire time here. The HR team were on the ball with all aspects and I people who managed the intern program were always there to answer any questions or queries that I had.
The company invested in my personal development heavily from the very beginning. They created a personal development plan with me, setting SMART goals and outlining my strengths and weaknesses. They were very good and finding what I was good at and what needed improvement on and allowing me to go on several courses to unlock my full potential.

As I was a Post Grad when I joined Pernod Ricard on their placement scheme this allowed me to carry on as an employee with them once my placement had finished. This prospect was something which was discussed through out my placement and the transition was seamless into my new role.
The Culture
All the interns working at Pernod Ricard UK got on amazingly. We had a very close group where everyone was included. We all had a lot in common and would do a lot of activities out side of office. I am still in contact with several and believe we will all meet up int the years to come.
I was lucky enough to live at home during my time Pernod Ricard UK allowing me to payt less on rent than I would I have done other wise. The drawback to this was I lived far away from work and had a very long commute each day making it harder to socialise but not impossible.
The nightlife was good where I worked with several bars/pubs right next to the office. These were good for a quick social after work but we were also a quick tube ride right into the centre of London allowing for more interesting and diverse nights out to all sorts of clubs.
Yes there was something happening at work everyday. Whether it was at lunch or after work. There was football, touch rugby, yoga and a book club to name a few activities. These were all ran by the company and free for any one to join. Some of the activities did have limited spots so you needed to be quick to make sure you got a place.
