About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Deloitte. I really enjoyed the variety of locations that I worked at during my time at Deloitte, for example, I visited the London, Glasgow and Edinburgh branches as well as shadowing consultants on work in different cities in Scotland and southern England. Furthermore, I was able to shadow colleagues on jobs in various different sectors, which deepened my insight into my future role at Deloitte.
I felt greatly valued during my time at Deloitte, mostly due to the acts of kindness from my colleagues and their thoughtfulness. For example, I was taken out for a meal on my first day so my manager and other colleagues could get to know me better, then on my last day we all went out for dinner together to round off the experience. Additionally, I felt valued being invited to shadow colleagues at high profile clients.
My colleagues were incredibly thoughtful and regularly reached out to see if I was okay when I was tasked with new work despite the fact that they were incredibly busy themselves. I had multiple meetings with managers to see how I could improve my current work, as well as informal chats with other colleagues who offered me guidance on a daily basis.
With regards to my degree studies I doubt that the skills that I learnt during my internship will truly help me, since I mainly learnt excel and SQL skills, which I do not use during my uni course. However, these are useful skills to have for when I leave uni.
The Company
Incredibly well structure, the first day was spent in London at a general Deloitte UK induction with all of the interns from across the country, the day afterwards I started in the regional office. Then I spent two weeks working for three different clients, which gave me a good insight into the different work that the department does.
I interned during the summer, which is the quietest time of the year for the department, hence the general atmosphere was more relaxed than what I expected to find.
I think that Deloitte invested quite a lot of time in training me, as I spent time working on three different jobs in three different locations. I am very satisfied with the level of training I was given in such a short time frame.
As mentioned previously, I interned during the quietest period of the year so I know that the job will require a lot more time and effort dedicated to it once I start full-time.
Greatly. I got to learn a lot about the company culture during the induction in London.
The internship greatly influenced my career path, I embarked upon the internship pretty unsure if I would be a good fit for a job as an accountant as I felt that I would not fit into that stereotype, since I do not study accounting or maths. However, I met lots of other people like me at Deloitte who really enjoy their jobs.
Everything Else
I was paid a competitive wage for an intern plus I was reimbursed for expenses.
All the time. From the time spent in London for the induction to time spent in the office.
The networking opportunities were good, however, apart from lunch there were not any social events.
No, I did not find out any information about this.
Yes! I have been recommending deloitte's internships to my friends.
