The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my work placement. At Deloitte I was constantly working on different projects with different people so I felt like part of the team. I didn't think that I would enjoy VAT as much as I did. I really loved all the work that I got involved in an loved Deloitte's values.
I never felt like I was just an intern at Deloitte. I felt like I was part of the team which made me feel hugely valued by all colleagues. I was not afraid to give my view or share an idea because I knew I would be listened to as I believed I was a valued member of the team.
I had two line managers and a buddy so I felt like I was given all the support I needed. I had a weekly catch up with my buddy who ensured I was getting on okay and I had enough work to be getting on with for that week. I felt like I could go to any member of the team for guidance as well as the people who were my designated managers.
I was involved in many different projects which meant that I always had work to do. I loved how busy I was because I carried out an internship to be involved and learn and with the amount of work that I had I believe that I have achieved that. However, I never felt like I had too much work as people would give me good amounts of time to finish pieces of work.
I feel like I was given a great amount of responsibilities with the forms that I filing and the work that I was doing. Being involved in client work allowed me to really get involved with what life at Deloitte would be like and this gave me a lot of responsibility as I was handling real client work.
It really linked to one of my modules as I am carrying out the professional development module which means that my essays will be centered around my work placement and skills that I gained. Being in a real 9-5 job, the training that I got and the skills I developed will help me in the future and at university.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great. The fact that it was hot-seating meant that I got to know everyone on my team as I would sit in different places every day. If I ever had a question I wasn't afraid to ask anyone because the office culture in Deloitte was very helpful.
It was amazing how well organised the internship was set-up right from: the start, the meetings I needed to have, the work I was doing and the end. Everyone was getting me involved in work and all my meetings with my buddy and line managers were in my diary so I knew exactly when things were happening.
They allowed me to go to many meetings and attend real client conversations. I attended the team meetings, training and briefing. Deloitte invested a lot in me so that I really felt like I was part of the team as I was gaining the skills that everyone else in the team was gaining.

I would love to go back to Deloitte as a graduate as I really enjoyed the work there in the VAT department. I love everything Deloitte stand for, the people there, the office culture and the work I would get stick into. I think it is just a great place to work.
The Culture
Socials were often organised which I think is a great way to get to know the rest of the team. Whilst I was there, there was afternoon tea, an evening at a bar and a free drinks Friday that was held every Friday in the office canteen. It was always well organised.
Everything was a decent price. It was just great to socialise with the team.
As Deloitte is so close to Broad Street there are so many bars and clubs around. Therefore, it has a great nightlife whereby again you can socialse with colleagues . There are so many options as it is also so close to the city center so there are so many activities and places you can go to.
I got involved in all activities that were organised by various people in the team. It was a great way to get to know everyone.
