The Role
I enjoyed it a great deal. The department was friendly and interesting, and the work was interesting and challenging. Living in London was a new and valuable experience as well, which was one of the reasons I took the internship in the first place. Overall a very positive experience and I look forward to the job.
I felt like a valuable member of the team, and my work was always treated positively. It was nice to be able to make a real tangible contribution to the team. However, I would say that there was an expectation for the interns to act somewhat sub-servient to some of the other staff, which was not as appreciated.
For every piece of work I was given, I was given clear instructions on how to complete it. If I ever needed an extra hand on a particular piece of work, it was always very possible to reach out to the supervisor for guidance. Definitely a good aspect of the job.
For most of the internship, the work amount was just about perfect - not too much, but enough to stay occupied for exactly the right number of hours. However, during the last week of the internship, there was practically no work that anyone was willing to give, until the last day when I was dumped with lots of stuff to finish in a few hours.
I had a surprising amount of responsibility over my work during the internship. Obviously all my work was supervised/looked over by a superior before being sent away/submitted, but even in the first few weeks of the internship I was doing the large part of the work on a few projects.
Most of the actual work was done in word/excel/powerpoint, and I'd say those skills will be incredibly useful going forward. Understanding more about the line of work, and learning how to better research things, will also be very helpful. Overall this was definitely a positive aspect of the work placement.
The Company
Colleagues were definitely friendly across the office, and I never had any bad experiences with individuals. However, the office was certainly very quiet, and there was a general atmosphere that everyone was constantly watching the interns to see if they were behaving/working hard enough.
Very well-organised by the company - an induction day for all the interns was great for setting up everything we'd need for our time there. With so many interns across the company everything was very streamlined and smoothly run.
The company was very good for personal training - meetings were set up to brief the interns on each aspect of the company's work, as well as details about industries and the department. Supervisors were always very good at introducing us to new ideas and techniques. This was especially good since the company didn't get any profit out of us (we get paid but make no money for them).

Very appealing - I've accepted the grad scheme job.
The Culture
It was reasonable - there were a couple of socials with the interns, but not a great deal with them. There were also a couple of fun socials with the department, but again not a great deal.
London is ridiculously expensive, but salaries are generally good enough to afford to socialise (as long as you don't want to save any money).
London clubs are a bit weird, and as an intern there weren't a great number of people desperate to go out all the time.
I was only there for 6 weeks, so didn't get particularly involved in anything. I'm sure the opportunities exist though.
