The Role
I really enjoyed it, and couldn't recommend Deloitte, and in particular the Scholar Scheme enough. Deloitte places so much emphasis on making work enjoyable, and ensuring that you have a support network to get the best out of your experience. The work is interesting, the clients are industry leaders, and the people are great.
Definitely - I was treated in the same capacity as a graduate, and assigned to clients in the exact same way. This was a great feeling, and so the development pathway, my appraisal, and work allocation was identical to graduates. People were always happy to give feedback and were grateful for my help.
Despite only being at Deloitte for a short period, what struck me was how willing people were to sit down and give me support. I regularly went for coffees with managers, directors and partners, and people were always keen to make sure I was getting a proper breadth of work. I could approach managers any time and felt comfortable in doing so.
This varied, as my team was big and very well staffed. Initially, for the first couple of weeks I wasn't too busy, and so I worked a lot on BD and other support work-streams. However, after a few months I was working on a few key accounts, and found myself to be consistently busy most days.
I was given the right amount of autonomy to stretch me, but also knew that I had support in place should I need it. By the end of the placement, I was trusted to call some clients by myself, and regularly exchanged emails with them. I owned several work-streams, and found myself to build more and more responsibility as the placement progressed.
They will help significantly. As I am studying business, the accounting course that I completed at Deloitte, as well as all of the taxation and advisory training will be highly useful. In addition, my proficiency with Excel, as well as soft skills like presenting, have improved and so these will be useful.
The Company
The atmosphere is inevitably dependent on the team, but I found it to be relaxed and very inclusive. People were always happy to chat, and we had several office events. I think most people I know had the same experience, and Deloitte is great because there is such a broad range of people.
It was very well organised! I had a structured development programme, and had a midway and final appraisal to ensure everything ran smoothly. People regularly checked in with me, and made sure that I was enjoying the internship and had all the help that I needed. Overall, very happy with how it was organised.
This is one area where I believe Deloitte are unmatched. They invested in me as much as they invest in graduates. I attended a 3 week academy, a week of accounting training at college, as well as another off-site training session and a range of other informal training sessions to aid my development

Very appealing, I would recommend Deloitte to anyone for a career. The development opportunities are particularly great and the progression as structured to ensure that high performers can progress quickly. Deloitte is huge, so there are plenty of opportunities and different roles to suit various skill sets and career ambitions.
The Culture
Yes, we had a few formal events (Christmas lunch, welcome event, leaving event). In addition, we had a Facebook group whereby we organised to go for drinks every Friday, as well as a range of other activities. I am still very good friends with some of the people I met at the initial social events.
London in general is very expensive, and central London even more so. This means that buying lunch every day and going out for lunch can be add up quickly. However, there are definitely ways to live more cheaply and save money. Plus, London is great fun so worth spending a little more.
There were a range of different pubs/bars, with plenty of places for after work drinks. I would say it was definitely sufficient, albeit you can jump on the underground and travel to other nearby places if you need a wider variety. We found many bars and places to go, and so I liked the nightlife.
Yes definitely, I played in a football team, and took part in a few other social activities. However, as I commuted from outside of London, I wasn't able to make the most of these. Many placement students did however and found there to be plenty of opportunities to get involved in.
