The Role
Thoroughly- I felt it was an adequate amount of time to be immersed in the company and be given independence and responsibility, and overall enjoyed the whole experience. There was a clear amount of effort made to ensure we had the best time possible and this was reflected in the number of events organised, and the management being done well as a whole.
There were times in which I felt that I would have liked to be able to contribute more, and so gain more appreciation but, as a whole, I did feel my input was valued and I was always listened to and included in conversations which was really appreciated and helpful in gaining confidence.
A large amount of support - having two managers available to discuss any concerns at any point throughout the time was extremely valuable, and it was an environment in which I felt comfortable asking for any support with queries or problems I was having. This area was particularly well managed.
It overall was a good balance between being given enough work to do, but also not feeling overwhelmed. There were points where I had to ask to be given more to do, but this was never an issue and, having done this, I had the appropriate amount of work to do on a daily basis.
I felt this was just the right amount - I was given the opportunity at multiple times to join in in meetings and give my opinion, and the work I produced was used in a professional manner. I did not however feel out of my depth in terms of being given too much to do.
A large amount of skills I’ve acquired will be transferable and help in the working life without doubt, such as the soft skills and also the use of software and other programming. I feel it may be slightly less relevant for my degree, but more so when re entering the world of work.
The Company
There was a nice balance between a friendly and fun environment, with a clear focus on suiting millennials, but at the same time there was still a very clear hard working ethic throughout the office. This meant it did not feel too stressful, but still felt like a professional work place.
Extremely well done, the whole process was managed well and planned out far ahead meaning I knew exactly what to expect. The application process did however take longer than expected, but once in the company I felt that it was all managed extremely well and planned to ensure we made the most of our time there.
There were a lot of opportunities to network in particular, a professional skill that is obviously extremely valuable. I also learnt more about using Microsoft and other software, so overall was very satisfied with the amount of time spent on this and feel my managers were particularly conscientious of this.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
I have been offered a graduate role here and have accepted, and am really looking forward to being back!
The Culture
Very much so - this was clearly organised ahead of time so there were many opportunities to meet other interns doing the same summer internship, as well as analysts and other people in the company. This area was one that I felt they excelled in and really added to my overall experience.
As expected in London, it was very expensive which is a downside but sadly unavoidable. This was expected and is not an issue that I felt the company should have to deal with, as it is just the case when living and working in London.
Large amount of pubs and bars available in the area that people would go to after work frequently. This wasn’t something that wasn’t a huge focus for me.
Plenty, as this is an area that the company clearly encourages you to get involved with. If I had been there longer then I would have gotten even more involved, and will definitely be doing so once I am hopefully back next year as it’s great for companies to do this.
