    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a great opportunity to see Deloitte and what an auditor would typically get up to day-to-day. The experience was very enjoyable overall! It was a lot better than what I was expecting with regards to exposure and opportunity... we were able to do actual work and not just shadow the entire 3 weeks.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Obviously as an intern there is a limit on what you are able to do. However I felt that Deloitte wanted to support me in all aspects of my work. They also took all of us interns out for lunch as a way to get to know us and ask what we wanted to get out of the placement.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The team were great at guiding me, I felt that I could ask questions at any point and there was no judgement... they were genuinely happy to help me! I went round the team and each member was happy to show me what they had been working on and give me tips for any smaller tasks they gave me.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The insight was a great start to my career in the corporate world. As an accounting and finance student, I will be able to use the knowledge that I developed whilst at Deloitte in a couple of my modules this year and the skills will be relevant to me in the future regardless of my chosen career path.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Being in a smaller, regional office, there weren’t that many interns and therefore wasn’t that much structure throughout my time at Deloitte. This wasn’t a problem, as it meant that I was able to get a lot more freedom in what I wanted to do, however there were times where I wish I had more work.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The company seemed a very friendly and happy place. Everyone was more than happy to help me and each other and that was evident in every team I sat with. Equally at the social events, everyone got on really well which was nice to see - I.e. their friendships were genuine and not just in the workplace.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was able to advance my excel knowledge and pick up tips and tricks that have been useful in my other internships and whilst at university. There was no direct ‘investment’ as such other than the salary that they paid us - but for in internship I wouldn’t expect any other investment from the company due to the short period of time I was there.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight gave the perfect opportunity to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the firm. I was able to work with different teams on both small and big clients to truly understand what they got up to throughout the year. Equally speaking to the team gave me a great idea of what working there was like.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • If I’m being completely honest, I was sceptical before about the big 4 company culture... but after my insight all my worries went away. The team were so welcoming towards me, and there was a clear work-life balance (but that doesn’t mean that busy season won’t be difficult). It was the perfect amount of time (3wks) to understand.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This gave me the perfect insight into audit and what a career in audit would be like and whether it would be a good fit for me. But equally, there was opportunity to talk to other departments and see what their role entailed too. I got to watch what the teams were doing and also often partake myself.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid a salary and reimbursed travel expenses to client site.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We went on socials so we could network within the team and I spoke to others in other offices over Skype.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Yes I went on a work night out (meal and comedy club) with the team and for a team lunch.

    5/5
