The Role
I truly enjoyed my summer internship at Deloitte. We were placed into different project teams according to our submitted interests, and was working among full-time consultants from day one. Everyone that I met during the summer have been very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this internship to others that are considering management and consulting roles.
Although I didn't have any consulting experience before I joined, I was quickly showed the ropes and was able to contribute to the team. Mainly taking up the project management and formatting tasks. I felt that I added value to the team, and continue to stay in touch with some of them
I felt encouraged to schedule coffee meet-ups with people in the team, where they answered my questions and gave constructive criticism. The team was proactive in making sure that my time was enjoyable. Everyone that I met during the summer have been very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this internship to others that are considering management and consulting roles.
It depends, it varied between days of meeting deadlines and some days when I was performing less important tasks - mainly taking up the project management and formatting tasks. On some days, I could leave work at 6pm. But some nights required me to stay for longer until 8pm. So it varies.

It's definitely given me a head start in my consulting career, having such a big brand under my belt. I feel
The Company
There was a cheerful atmosphere in the office. Like other consulting firms, Deloitte has a flat structure, where managers just feel like another part of the team. You can freely joke and converse with the seniors, and they are willing to schedule time to talk and advise you on your career
Well organised. The scheme leads organised a two day formal training. There were weekly socials for interns to mingle, such as social ping pong, drinking events and free dinners. I feel like the scheme leads put a lot of thought in planning events for us interns, and we all enjoyed it
They gave us two days of formal training, teaching us simple tricks in excel and powerpoint and a brief overview of the operations of Deloitte. The rest of the training came on the job. I was shown how to complete certain tasks and the team was kind enough to spend time training me
I have been offered a return offer to join as an analyst at Deloitte consulting when I graduate. So the future employment prospects seem great at the moment. After 2 years of being an analyst, I can then be promoted to consultant grade, then further moving up the corporate ladder
The Culture
There was a great social scene. The scheme leads organised a two day formal training. There were weekly socials for interns to mingle, such as social ping pong, drinking events and free dinners. Often, interns would get together for lunch breaks and meet after work, despite being in different project teams
Very very expensive. It was London after all. I spent around £800 per month just on rent and that doesn't include anything else. With the low pay that Deloitte offers to its junior consultants, I doubt many would be able to keep up with the cost of living in a city like London
A lot of clubs in the area, Fabric was particularly close to the office. But cocktail bars and ping pong parlours seemed to be more of norm among Deloitte employees. I am personally not a big fan of going out, but I still had a lot of fun getting drunk
