    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed the working side of the placement year as I was able to become involved in a number of projects which had an impact.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Upon leaving and moving into a new environment I can now reflect upon this experience and I didn't feel as welcomed by colleagues. So people did make an effort but I did feel a lot like an outsider.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given good guidance and feedback from manager. It may not have been always positive but this helped to make this a good learning experience and helped me to grow and progress.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a daily basis there was a good balance of the amount of work which was there. There was a few tasks which we were asked to do that was time filling exercises.

  • I was given a good level of responsibility been able to lead on a few projects which I found really good for my development.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel the skills I gained were really good have the extra training has set me up for the future moving forward.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I found the office not to be as liver a place which may be due to people not making me feel as welcome.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was very well organised as i was carrying out a role which had a purpose and function within the business. You could tell this had happened for many years.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel the company invested in the individual in order to help them progress, but dint have much of a pathway after competing placement.

  • I don't see myself having a career with this business.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • This was one of the hardest things I found about placement was the lack of social scene which I found difficult to adapt to and quite isolating at times.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The social aspect I found wasn't great due to the expense of doing. This made it difficult to socialise and very isolating.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I found the nightlife very expensive and not aimed at my age bracket.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a few opportunities outside of work but wasn't loads to get involved as they all felt like corporate based exercises.
