The Role
I enjoyed the working side of the placement year as I was able to become involved in a number of projects which had an impact.
Upon leaving and moving into a new environment I can now reflect upon this experience and I didn't feel as welcomed by colleagues. So people did make an effort but I did feel a lot like an outsider.
I was given good guidance and feedback from manager. It may not have been always positive but this helped to make this a good learning experience and helped me to grow and progress.
On a daily basis there was a good balance of the amount of work which was there. There was a few tasks which we were asked to do that was time filling exercises.
I was given a good level of responsibility been able to lead on a few projects which I found really good for my development.
I feel the skills I gained were really good have the extra training has set me up for the future moving forward.
The Company
I found the office not to be as liver a place which may be due to people not making me feel as welcome.
The placement was very well organised as i was carrying out a role which had a purpose and function within the business. You could tell this had happened for many years.
I feel the company invested in the individual in order to help them progress, but dint have much of a pathway after competing placement.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Above 25 days holiday
I don't see myself having a career with this business.
The Culture
This was one of the hardest things I found about placement was the lack of social scene which I found difficult to adapt to and quite isolating at times.
The social aspect I found wasn't great due to the expense of doing. This made it difficult to socialise and very isolating.
I found the nightlife very expensive and not aimed at my age bracket.
There was a few opportunities outside of work but wasn't loads to get involved as they all felt like corporate based exercises.
