The Role
I enjoyed my placement at Matalan as alongside my job there was training and extra support to help me throughout the year. I felt like I learnt a lot within this company about the industry, my role and alternative roles!
My team was really supportive, I had regular 1-1s with my buyer and support from the whole team.
I was given 1-1 support and each week I was given specific tasks to focus on which really helped me understand what was required at my level.
I was kept really busy contributing to our KPIs each day. There was always so much to do on my team however this came in cycles depending on the timing of the season we were working on.
Over time my responsibility increased. I worked closely with the junior buyer on my team to help develop her part of the range on our department.
The skills development will help me further in my studies and for my future career! I also learnt life skills that will help me in all aspects
The Company
Friendly atmosphere overall, however during deadlines etc the atmosphere changed slightly!
Really good. As a 12 month placement journey we had regular 1-1s and support from the placement teams. There was also training masterclasses in place to help us.
Regular masterclasses helped during my year.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Would definitely consider returning in the future
The Culture
We only socialised in the work canteen or at placement catch up meetings.
I stayed at home!
Closest town area is Liverpool approximately 30-40 minutes away.
I socialised with work at the Christmas party and for team meals which happened when it was one of the members birthdays.
