About You
A lovely lunch was provided with good quality food and lots of it which was nice but there wasn’t enough people who attended so eating it was awkward and conversation was stunted. I was the only A Level participant as the others were all university level so a wider range of ages would be better.
They made their talks very informative and there was lots of opportunity to discus what was being presented and this made me feel as if my opinions and presence at the open day was valued. I was made to feel like I was a worthy candidate to apply for an apprenticeship
The talk was very informative and well presented and organised. It had a good structure that talked through all of the different forms of applications for the apprentices and work experience days in an order that was easy to follow. They were open to questions and any queries we may have had
I no longer wish to pursue a career in accounting so the information I received wouldn’t help with my degree but I learned valuable communication skills which I will continually use beyond and during my studies. It was the first formal office type event I have attended so the experience of being around people who work there on a daily basis was beneficial to see
The Company
The insight day was well structured, organised and presented through the whole day. It was clear and informative and covered a variety of key information about the firm and the firm values but also the different ways in which you can apply to become and apprentice an other routes of entering the firm.
The general atmosphere was welcoming and I immediately felt at ease as I entered the building. Everybody was polite and kind and there were no tensions. It looked like an overall friendly place to work and the employees only had positive things to say about the working environment and colleague relationships
They gave us the key skills needed to excel at interview which would be the most critical thing when applying for a job at the firm. Attending the insight day in general seemed as if it would boost your application as it shows interest. We were equipped with everything needed to get a space if we wanted one.
We only saw a snippet of life at the firm. We spoke to employees about working life which was very informative and that is when I decided accounting wasn’t for me (just a personal preference). We were told in detail about what a regular day working in each field was like.
More time could have been spent on this area as I can’t remember much about it but can remember other bits in detail
My time at the firm showed me that an office environment is not where I want to spend my life so in that regard it helped me enormously as it cut out so many career options from my list. You really got a feel for what it would be like to work there.
Everything Else
Yes lunch was provided and we spoke to other employees during this time
Lunch was the only time we had to socialise and we listened to people talk about their life at the firm. Lunch should have been longer and less formal as it was awkward and the conversation didn’t flow naturally. There should have been more time at the beginning to get to know the other students
