    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight quite a bit. It felt a lot more personal and more in touch than working at a hospital, which can often feel quite distant. I really enjoyed working with the general practitioner I was assigned to as he was really nice and helped me understand a lot of things about medicine.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I did feel quite valued during my time at the company as my assigned general practitioner would take time out between appointments to either quickly brief me on what would be going on or to explain any steps he took in trying to diagnose any problems and taking further steps if necessary.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a lot of guidance and support from my assigned general practitioner while I was there. He taught me a lot about practical medicine and how in practice, it is quite different to how it works in theory and this is something which I do not think is covered enough.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that I did develop some vital skills there to help me in medicine in the sense that I was able to understand the patients to a greater degree so I developed compassion. Furthermore, I also developed a lot of knowledge on medicine while I was there which certainly helped me.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was quite well structured in a sense. Eventhough there was no real tangible structure and every day was different, my assigned practitioner would use the appointments of the day to teach me different things and I never felt like I was lost or was on my own there because of this.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Generally, the atmosphere was quite nice as the doctor I was with was very friendly and always managed to put me and the patients in a good mood which was really nice and heartwarming for me to see. This made the day seem a lot shorter and made it more enjoying.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of personal training and development, the company or firm invested a lot in me as they were teaching me skills and knowledge that I could use in the medical field and this showed how they cared enough to give me the tools to also hopefully help people in the future.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • To an extent, the insight did help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the clinic as I got to see how I would be able to help people as a doctor and this really appealed to my innate desire to help people.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight really did help me to understand company culture. Through overseeing appointments between patient and doctor, I got to see the utmost care that the doctors had for the patients and how they really cared about their job and wanted them to get better; they had a real desire to help people.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The insight was quite valuable to me as through talking to doctors working at the clinic, I was able to see all the different pathways that I could take in medicine and I saw that it was not simply linear so it inspired me to be committed to the medicine that I was interested in.

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was not paid for this experience as it was much more like shadowing than anything else really and I was not doing much work to benefit them. I was however reimbursed my expenses to travel there and for my lunch costs which I thought was really nice of them to do.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were very few opportunities to meet the other doctors working at the medical clinic and this is mainly because they all had different schedules so I could never really get a hold of them as they would either be busy or not working at the moment I was looking for them.

    2/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The few networking opportunities that I was able to have with the other doctors of the clinic were really nice as they offered me advice in how to succeed in medicine and taught me all about different career paths that I did not know about so they really were trying to help me succeed.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I did not really find out about activities that the employees could get involved in outside of work. Though we talked about our personal lives quite a bit, we never really talked much about socialising or perhaps meeting up outside of work so therefore, I did not find out about such activities.

    1/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to someone who is interested in medicine. Though there isn't quite as big a range of issues as a hospital may have, it does feel more personal and connected than the hectic nature of a hospital and this made it more enjoying for me, in many ways.

    5/5
