The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement here at Mott MacDonald. It has been extremely beneficial to my learning and professional development. I feel I was treated well and given more responsibility than expected which was very good. Everyone is very nice and helpful whenever i ask questions or if I am unsure about any piece of work given.
I do feel valued and appreciated by my colleagues. I do believe I work hard and I've been progressively given more responsibility. My work doesn't go unnoticed and I feel like a valued team member of my team as I am involved in every discussion and have the opportunity to put forward my thoughts.
I believe I have been given lots of support and guidance from my supervisors. Anytime I am given a task I am explained on what I need to do and how to do it. There is some self learning involved but that's crucial. Any questions or queries I have are always answered.
My level of work load can differ depending on what work is available and what project I'm working on. Sometimes I can find myself a bit bored as there isn't work available right away for someone of my limited skill level. Otherwise I believe the amount of work I get is dependant on how much my supervisor and I believe I can handle ive never felt overwhelmingly busy.
I was given more responsibility than I had initially expected. I feel like I do important work that is very important to the project. I even have the chance to manage a team where I instruct and coordinate and I am responsible for keeping track of deliverables and deadlines for different projects.
I feel like the main skill I have learnt is organisational, communication and management skills. Through liaising with numerous team members on a global scale I have had to communicate with many people everyday projecting ideas and deadlines and then keeping track of all of the work happening at the same time.
The Company
General atmosphere is very friendly and everyone was eager to be of assistance. I feel relaxed and trusted to get along with my work. There is a sense of flexibility where even if I am late I can work extra to make up for it and there is not a fear or sense of pressure on that front.
It was organised well through my Uni and the HR team here where I was able to start when I wanted and end when I wanted with opportunities to extend my placement if I want to. There were no hiccups in the process and it ran smoothly with me being assigned to a team since the first day.
I have had the opportunity to develop my skills through attempting to complete chartership attributes and that has been supported by colleagues in the office. As per training, I haven't received any special training as of yet but if the opportunity presents itself I'm sure I would be allowed to partake.

My future with the organisation is very appealing as I do enjoy my work and enjoy working with the people i work with. The projects are also rather interesting where I am able to dive deep into a project and be invested and valued in it. Mott MacDonald is one of the top firms, I would be happy to be a part of it post graduating.
The Culture
There are social things happening every month that I am aware of, haven't had the opportunity to go as I've been busy but they range from golf to darts. TI have the opportunity to go to lunch with colleagues also and there are after work drinks that run every now and again,
I don't live in the area I work in. I commute from very far away about1.5 hours.
I haven't been out in the area however its 30mins into central London where you would find a good nightlife scene.
Not many activities i' aware of but I haven't been looking.
