About You
I found it very encouraging and I learnt a lot about the different areas within finance. It was also great engaging with the MUFG team, as I felt it really showed the ethics and values that MUFG represent.
Being able to speak with senior leaders of MUFG made me feel very valued, as it showed that they were really investing their time in women and their future workforce, but even just spending the time to help women progress both personally and professionally.
There was a very well set-out plan that we could use for guidance during the day and as there was lots of staff it was easy to ask if you had any confusion. The other women attending the day were also very warm and friendly, and I feel we all provided good support to one another too.
I had a particularly insightful conversation with [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], regarding women in the workforce, which will be a direct help to my dissertation, as I'm studying a similar topic. This also provided me with more knowledge of the wellbeing initiatives the company had. I found the panel conversion very interesting, and the questions other women asked, and the responses that were given, provided me with more knowledge about different markets.
The Company
I thought the day was well structured and there was a good amount of time for each activity. It was good finishing with networking drinks as this allowed me to ask questions that I had developed throughout the day and engage more with MUFG team members.
I thought it had a very warming atmosphere and all the staff and other women attending were welcoming, which created a very friendly environment.
Being able to speak to senior leaders, which would have taken from time on their own projects, was very good and made me feel the company was investing in me.
Because of being able to speak to a range of individuals from different sectors, I got an insight into what roles entailed. This was very useful as it made me think that some roles I previously hadn't considered, would actually be the role I was most suited for. In doing so, I could also learn about the working and social environment that MUFG have.
A lot. This was again because I could see this through the characteristics of the individuals I got to meet, and their supportive approach. I especially liked the question one individual asked about making mistakes, as this reinforced the company's focus on acting integrally and learning from mistakes.
The content was extremely helpful as it made me more aware of the skills and capabilities of each role. It also made me notice how MUFG stands out compared to other banks, particularly through their emphasis on diversity. I noticed this immediately as I was on a table of women from different backgrounds, ethnicities and cultures, which allowed me to gain more knowledge too of why others had been attracted to MUFG.
Everything Else
I did not submit any expenses.
Yes, especially with the drinks and nibbles activity at the end, where you got the opportunity to speak with experts individually, and thus gain a more in-depth insight.
I found it very good, and made connections not only with the employees, but also with the women attending and I look forward to continuing these relationships.
Yes - I was made aware of the different diversity groups, but also the social groups like their running clubs and parents group, which helps employees to grow personally.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend because it gives you a more hands-on experience of what MUFG is like, and what areas within finance involve.
