About You
I enjoyed every minute of it. The work was varied and challenging, the people were warm and welcoming, and it provided an accurate insight into what working at the firm would actually be like.
In a very short period of time, I felt as if I was already part of the team at Linklaters. I was trusted with real work, and included in importsnt conversations.
Plenty. If there was ever an issue that I needed addressing or an burning question that I wanted to ask, there was always someone on hand to support me. This could have been my principal, graduate recruitment, or my trainee buddy.
It assisted me a little in my studies, as I was able to see the practical application of the legal decisions that I learn about in university. However, it gave me even more guidance for my future carrer, enabling me to better understand the jobscope of a commercial lawyer.
The Company
Very well structured, including a mix of formalised presentations and talks as well as more relaxed networking opportunities.
Fantastic. I really felt as if every part of the firm's culture is geared towards ensuring the people who work here are made to feel comfortable in their own skin, and in the best possible position to provide excellent legal advise to their clients.
It was clear from the start that they were putting a lot into us. We had access to all of the firm's training resources, as well as sessions explaing the inner workings of every large practise area.
It did a fantastic job. The work that I did really reflected the work that a trainee would do if they were working at Linklaters, so I felt that I was able to better understand what my role would be if I were to work at the firm.
It honestly helped me a lot. I know feel as if I really understandind the working culture of the firm, and the priorities that the senior leadership has moving forward.
Before the scheme, I thought I wanted to be a commercial solicitor working in London. After the scheme, I know I want to be a commercial solicitor working in London.
Everything Else
We were paid a decent amount per week, which allowed me to comfortably rent a room in London for the duration of the stay.
Plenty. I spoke to a lot of people from varying backgrounds and ranging across the firm.
Reallt good, there were enough to give us good exposure across a range of individuals and really start to build our network within the firm.
Yep! I was told about the various diversity networks you can get involved with, and a few of the sports teams.
Without a shadow of a doubt. It's a good scheme that will appeal to both those that are certain about commercial law, or for those that are merely considering it.
