About You
The insight into the firm was extremely rewarding and enriching. The teams are cohesive, encouraging, and supportive. The work the firm undertakes is of the highest quality, and the experience is unparalelled. Lots of events are organised to help you to get to know the group, which is truly special.
I felt valued throughout my time at linklaters.
There was considerable guidance/support in the form of Principals, Trainee Buddies and Graduate Recruitment Advisors.
The skills developed are essential to being a commercial lawyer, and excelling as a legal professional in a changing world. Important skills acquired through training at Linklaters include drafting, research, negotiation, and attention to detail.
The Company
The vacation scheme was well structured and allowed students to gain a range of different experiences. Sessions are organised that help you learn about the various practice areas of the firm, which are really helpful. The time spent in the scheme is divided into 2 departments, which allows you to get to know two different groups.
It was very enjoyable, lively, and exciting.
The firm invests in training its international clerks by arranging sessions covering not only legal practice areas but also on personal/professional development, social etiquette and technology.
International clerks get a good sense of what it feels like to be working at linklaters during the scheme. This is because we have the opportunity to interact with two different teams within the firm, attend social events, and undertake real work, while also observing it.
The insight provided a great perspective on how friendly, warm, welcoming, and encouraging the team at Linklaters is.
The structure of the scheme is such that it helps you decide whether being a corporate/commercial lawyer is the right decision for you. The firm offers a very realistic perspective on what a day in the life of a linklaters' lawyer is, and this is helpful in making important decisions. The firm also tells international clerks about opportunities that would be available to them should they join the firm, which is beneficial to decision making.
Everything Else
The stipend we received was very generous, and ensured that we could enjoy our time in the city comfortably.
Yes - many social events were organised where we had a chance to interact with lawyers across practice areas and levels of seniority.
They were very well organised and enjoyable. The events were varied, ranging from ice skating, plays, escape rooms, and cooking challenges to more formal networking breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Additionally, the firm has an open-door policy, and interns have the opportunity to set up coffee/lunch dates with lawyers in the firm that they want to get to know better.
Yes, the graduate recruitment team ensured that we had the opportunity to learn about the various facilities at the firm, such as the fitness centre, and about the various committees and groups that exist within the firm, such as the trainee social committee, as well as about other opportunities such as music lessons.
Yes.
