    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was truly insightful to the workings of the dispute division of the firm, and also introduced the independent Advocacy group. The case studies were incredible to see the impact the firm has in its cases, and how it is able to manage global workings.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Each and every staff member was welcoming and willing to speak about their journey into the firm. Trainees were particularly friendly, and really encouraging about the application process to HSF.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There were multiple sessions regarding applications and how to write the best applications that stand out to Graduate Recruitment. I took lots of notes and am hoping to apply the techniques they recommended.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A lot of trainees advised me on how to write analytic essays that will take me to a First. Some also added me on LinkedIn to give further advice which showed just how friendly everyone at the firm is.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The timetable was well laid-out and provided to all students with the names of speakers for future reference. This clarity was good for preparation beforehand so questions could be tailored to the speaker to gain the most from the event.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The firm was extremely welcoming and no question or query was too small. HSF provided an atmosphere where questions were encouraged and so was ambition. It truly was an insightful day with employees speaking with such passion that it was obvious there was no forcing to attend.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm has provided advice onto how to apply for further schemes (First Year workshops) and numerous materials on how to secure vacation schemes. The advice was thorough and detailed and provided a step-by-step through the process.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I completely understood the position of employees in the firm, everyone seemed to love their jobs and could honestly answer questions about the challenge of the job that brings great success.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • From the day’s start, it was clear that the firm has high standards and expects these to be continued by all staff. Despite this, the firm seemed to be extremely welcoming and also focused heavily on teamwork and collaboration.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • After the introduction to the Advocacy group, I was immediately piqued by the ability to specialise in complete advocacy - combining the best aspects of being a solicitor and a barrister. This opportunity has certainly steered me towards applying to HSF.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I am still awaiting to be reimbursed; however, the firm offering to reimburse travel expenses was lovely to see that they are encouraging social mobility amongst everyone. As a student financially struggling, this support was lovely to see.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The firm provided a networking lunch which consisted of partners, associates and trainees who were all more than willing to speak on their experiences at the firm training or, in some cases a comparison with other large city firms.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The trainees I spoke to were so insightful into their lives at the firm and the additional opportunities at the firm - particularly the pro-bono undertaken at Whitechapel. They underlined the key principles of the firm.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There are many focus groups that encourage social mobility and exposure within the legal industry. HSF also provided sport clubs and teams that allow for cross-departmental collaboration, encouraging friendships to be developed outside of the specialist department.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • HSF Insight Day into Disputes was incredibly insightful into the quality work that the firm takes on. The case studies were so current and applicable, and allowed for questions to be asked on the actions of the firm.
