About You
I undertook the Insight Day in November and was thoroughly impressed with the organisation and layout of the day.
I felt like we were given thought-provoking and mentally stimulating work, and was given plenty of attention by the supervisors and trainees alike.
Whenever we needed to query anything we were able to ask the supervisors or trainees. I always felt like they were approachable and willing to help.
In particular, I felt like the key skill I developed was to work in networking. It was integral to socialise with my peers whom I had never met before as we were tasked with pitching with them throughout the day.
The Company
The Insight Day was extremely well organised and time-efficient. Additionally, we were fully briefed with the following event/task that was next.
The positive atmosphere and culture of the firm was the main reason why I greatly enjoyed RPC. I would fully recommend others to participate in the Insight Day to find out more about the firm and gain valuable skills for the future.
The firm spent time and resources on us, answering all our questions. With regards to personal training and development, this was not possible considering as we only had a single day event. However, the presenters and the graduate recruitment team were always happy and willing to answer all our questions.
The insight greatly enhanced my understanding of what a role with the firm entails, as we were able to shadow trainees and experience their work.
The insight day invaluable in understanding the culture of the firm as we saw the 'strikingly real' culture that underpins RPC's success. The trainees gave me a holistic and sincere briefing on their position in the firm which matched the description given by the graduate recruitment team.
The content of the day was extremely useful with regards to my decision for my future career path, as it further resolved my ambition to become a commercial law lawyer in a City law firm. It gave me further motivation to persevere with taking the necessary steps to obtaining a training contract.
Everything Else
The firm was extremely generous to reimburse my whole train expenses from Manchester to London.
There were many opportunities to network with trainees, associates and even partners during the lunch break. While shadowing the trainees we were able to question them in a more personal setting.
The networking opportunities were a great experience as we were able to eat lunch alongside the firm's trainees, associates and partners. Here we were able to find out more about the culture and work life of the firm. I am fortunate to keep in contact with some of the trainees after the event.
We were able to learn about the activities such as: pro bono work, sporting activities and social events. We learnt that these activities are key to fostering a collegiate culture at the firm and keeping morale high.
I would fully recommend the insight to a friend and I told my university peers about the event in detail. The firm clearly values prospective trainees and therefore if an aspiring solicitor wishes to learn more about a commercial city law firm I would fully recommend them to attend the RPC Insight Day
