The Role
I loved my time on placement. In fact, I loved it so much I've gone back and done more with SLV.Gloabl over the past two years! I couldn't ask for a better placement/experience provider in this field.
My homestay treated me like one of their own, the in-country staff were all so welcoming and amazing, and the London staff were super helpful with all of the pre-departure stuff.
I felt the training provided for my role was amazing, and the management staff were brilliant at making sure you were confident and able to do the tasks at hand and were always there to help if you needed it in any way.
I found the workload the perfect amount. It was a Monday-Friday meaning the weekends were perfect for unwinding and re-collecting before the new week. Mondays were spent preparing for the rest of the week, and there were ample workshops and other tools to support us through the week.
I definitely would have said I got the perfect amount of responsibility. I was trained to enable me to complete my role well, without overloading me with jobs or tasks that weren't apart of that role.
Without the skills I gained on my placement I would not have got onto my Masters. It's as simple as that. Not only did I get the hands-on work experience in my field, but I also gained and honed a load of different skills, from teamwork to adaptability, to taking initiative and flexibility as well!
The Company
The staff were great at getting that life/work balance. The work was challenging, and the team knew how to keep the work going and to keep everyone motivated - whilst having fun at the same time!
I loved that there was support from the moment I applied to even know, after I have finished. All of the pre-departure help with visas and what to where in the workplace were super useful, as were the fundraising tips! Whilst on placement it was amazingly smooth the support given, and even after I came back! Its like being part of a family now.

I got offered the chance to work with them whilst on my Masters - so awesome!
The Culture
Absolutely! The work/life balance is important to them, so the social and unwinding side is brilliant.
Depending on what you wanted to do to unwind depended on the cost. But it was easy to find cheap/free things to do!
I'm not much of a nightlife person, however, my teammates and colleagues had an awesome time!
So many opportunities!
