About You
I found this insight event extremely insightful and interesting. There was lots of very helpful information on the experience of working at EY, and many tips and information that is transferrable to many career scenarios such as job interviews, which was very useful. There were also many opportunities for participation which made the event very engaging, as well as a range of interesting speakers.
All of the questions that I asked throughout the day were answered in depth and with no judgement. Even though this was a virtual event and so I thought it might be difficult to actively participate in the event, this was not an issue at all as there were a lot of opportunities for interaction and engagement which made it really feel like my questions and participation was valued
The day covered a wide range of very informative and interesting topics and discussion, and provided me with a lot of very useful advice tat I feel will really help me to excel in future application processes and internships, and the workplace in general. I was impressed level of interaction throughout the day that supported the understanding of ideas being discussed.
I feel like this insight event really helped provide me with methods to improve my soft skills, which will be useful not only in my degree but in my future career. I found the concept of personal branding particularly interesting and believe developing this will be invaluable in all situations.
The Company
The insight event I thought overall was well structured, although I personally felt that it could be more beneficial to have the introduction to tax before the panel, as having a brief understanding of the different career paths may have allowed for some more specific questions on tax to the wider group. But overall, I felt that the day flowed nicely and was well structured.
While it was hard to get a sense of atmosphere with a virtual event, I felt that the general attitude was very inclusive and supportive, with no question being made to feel silly. I think every speaker was very welcoming and it seemed that they all were genuinely invested in providing the best possible experience for us.
I feel like this experience provided a good insight into working at EY. All speakers spoke very highly of the working environment, and many highlighted the inclusive and collaborative culture at the company, as well as the high level of support that is available. I left the experience very interested in a future career with there.
As mentioned in a previous answer, I feel that I left with a great understanding of the company culture. I feel assured that EY has a very inclusive, collaborative and supportive working environment, with many opportunities to be part of groups that are important to you and give you a sense of belonging, such as the women's network.
By giving a very detailed account of what a job in tax at EY would involved, I think that this insight day has really helped to strengthen my desire to continue down this path as a future career. However, I was also happy to hear that working at EY allows for some flexibility in this.
Everything Else
Being a virtual event, it was difficult to network during this event. However, there were many opportunities to submit questions to speakers throughout the day and this was very insightful. Many speakers also left their contact details so that we are able to connect with them if we have future questions.
As mentioned in a previous answer, there were not many opportunities for networking as this was a virtual event and so we could not speak in person. However, I still felt that all the speakers that left their contact details would be happy to answer questions at a later date.
I found out that there are many different opportunities for employees to get involved in, and that this helps to foster the inclusive environment at EY that speakers throughout the day kept referring to, as there is something for everyone. I found the talk on the women's network sounded particularly interesting.
I would definitely recommend this insight event to anyone who would like to gain some insight into women in business or tax. Previously, I was concerned that this would be a very male-dominated profession that would be difficult for women to feel included in, but this event really demonstrated that EY has created a very diverse and inclusive environment.
