About You
It was very interesting and enjoyable. The event took place on Microsoft teams due to the Corona Virus lockdown, and everyone was really helpful and adjusted to the virtual format well. We heard from a number of different women who work in EY, and found out more about the different careers there and how to succeed in our own careers.
The people running the event were very considerate and took time to answer a variety of questions from different people. They were very understanding of the position that we are in as students and gave us clear information. They were kind and supportive throughout the day, and encouraged us to take notes to look back on in the future.
There was a lot of guidance and support offered throughout the day, with multiple opportunities to ask questions and a lot of reassurance in terms of not being afraid to ask a question. They delivered the information clearly and provided lots of time to make sure we understood the information clearly.
The information we have received today was very useful and will help significantly in the future. The insight day allows us to be fast tracked onto an assessment day to secure a Summer internship and we were given a lot of tips and advice on how to succeed in this in the future, and to potentially secure a graduate job.
The Company
The insight day was very well structured and adapted well to being held virtually. There was a clear lay out of the day, with structured breaks, exercises, panels and time for questions. Working on a call worked very well and we all contributed using the chat function to ask questions.
Taken online due to COVID-19 - didn't go into office
The team invested are investing very heavily into us, making sure we had a full understanding of what we were being told about. They taught us how to develop our own personal brand and skills to be more employable in the future and to fast track our career at EY.
This day was very insightful into what it would be like to work in a full time role at EY as we heard from a number of different careers and the different paths women had taken to get there. They told us about the different parts of consultancy and different areas we could specialise in.
There was a clear insight into the culture of the company whereby it is very people orientated and they really focus on diversity and inclusiveness of everyone in the firm. We learnt particularly about their Women's network and the importance of having events and groups throughout the firm to represent everyone.
This was a very valuable day and has given me a great deal of information to help decide what I want to do in the future. It has provided a clear idea of how I could get from where I am now into a graduate job at EY and the area that I wish to specialise in.
Everything Else
It was an insight day which took place online due to COVID-19. Therefore, there were no expenses to be reimbursed as we completed it from home. I was not paid as I was not completing work for the firm, merely learning more about the different jobs there and what working at EY would be like.
There were lots of opportunities for networking and throughout the day we connected with each other (students on the course) and with the leading women at EY via LinkedIn. This would have been quite a different experience had we been able to do it in person, however, it has still allowed us to network.
The networking and social opportunities were significant as mentioned above. We connected with each other (students on the course) and with the leading women at EY via LinkedIn. This would have been quite a different experience had we been able to do it in person, however, it has still allowed us to network.
We found out about the different events that are put on at EY such as International Women's Day which is a significant event for the firm. We also learnt about how teams socialise within themselves such as events outside of work, or monthly breakfasts for example. It appears there are good groups of friends made within the firm.
I would absolutely recommend this to a friend. The day was so useful and I found out so much more information and now have a much better idea of what I want to do in my future career. It was a fun and interactive day and I met lots of new people because of it.
