The Role
Everyone was friendly, patient and open to questions, even seemingly stupid ones!
The support was excellent, however it would have been useful at times if we had been divided up into groups which took into account how much previous knowledge of economics people had.
not much - but we didn't really want any at this stage, however the games we did gave us the chance to take a bit more control
Overall a fantastic experience, were given lots of detailed booklets we could keep outlining what the bank did and what investment banking actually meant. Brilliant networking session on first day taught us how to behave successfully in a commercial atmosphere - something you can take away with you forever
The Company
Everyone was very busy, obviously it changed depending on your department, each one had a very specific atmosphere so you could generally find one that suited you.
Pretty well organised and ran smoothly, we were never double booked or sent to the wrong place etc. However there were a few mistakes on the initial booklet which was handed out, but these were corrected, and maps and addresses could have been more thorough
We were given 2 on 1 sessions with graduates and people who had been working at the bank for years, picked up some invaluable knowledge. Opportunity to have dinner with execs as well was a a great experience!
The investment in education for the graduate scheme is really appealing especially now i have learnt first hand how patient and thorough they are
The Culture
Everyone got on really well, people went out for drinks once or twice after work, however in general most of the time we were too tired to get up to much!
Obviously it was london so things are never going to be that cheap, however since accommodation was provided for and a really good breakfast and lunch every day the week actually ended up pretty cheap!
Too tired for any of that! But there were plenty of bars everywhere
