The Role
I have loved my placement at SAP. The whole experience has been invaluable from the people I have met, to the corporate exposure I have had within my job role. I have been give the opportunity to work alongside professionals in the industry and have their mentoring. It has been a very enriching experience allowing me positively develop my future career goals.
From the beginning of my internship my colleagues have welcomed and respected any contribution I have made to the team and I have felt highly appreciated. When work has been asked of me it has always been used and required with purpose. I have always been given praise and great recognition for the time and effort I have put into my work which is very rewarding.
My manager and other managers in the department have always been very supportive and show keen interest in what I am working on. Throughout my placement I have had daily contact with my manager always checking-in asking how I'm doing. I have also had frequent meeting with my manager to ensure he can facilitate and help me with any skills I'd like to develop during my placement. The supervisors of the placement programme have also been very supportive and helped with any projects I have wanted to participate in.
Throughout my placement I have been consistently busy working on different projects and customer deals. This has been great as it has allowed me to get the most out of my placement year. SAP is a very upbeat and fast paced environment. There is always something to get involved with, never allowing you to get bored.
During my placement I have been given full responsibility of my work and trusted to spend my time valuably. My role has meant I have had a lot of responsibility managing the on site Customer Experience Center. This has involved me booking and liaising with multiple colleagues to ensure important customer visits take place smoothly. I have also been given the responsibility of showing customers and partners tours of our Experience Centre, explaining the functionality and purpose of the space.
I have developed skills for life throughout my year placement at SAP. There have been multiple training sessions based on the requests of interns and new skills we have wanted to develop. One of the main skills I have developed within my role is presentation skills and best practice of effective story telling and delivering an engaging customer presentation.
The Company
The office has a great atmosphere and vibe. The building is very modern and spacious with great facilities, always clean and kept to a high standard. The architecture of the building captures natural light which keeps the office alive with a great buzz of interaction between everyone. The whole office space is open plan with meeting rooms which allows for open communication with people in different departments.
The placement programme is run exceptionally well with consistent organisation from the SteerCo team. The placement team always encourage open communication from us and welcome feedback and change to ensure our experience is the best it can be. It is very clear how important our placement experience is to them.
I feel like there has been a lot of time and effort invested into me and ensuring I am gaining everything I want from this year. I have participated in several training sessions run for the full time team. I feel like I have been treated like a full-time member of the team and anything I have needed to ensure my job can be done to the fullest the company has invested in.

I would love to come back and work for SAP after completing university. Since spending a year in the Presales role I have become familiar with the different elements of the job and this has confirmed to me that this is a role I would like to pursue, within an industry this fast paced industry. I feel like this organisation has shown how much they care for the well being of the employees and it is definitely a community I'd like to be a part of.
The Culture
In my placement year there were 80 interns which meant I had a big group of placement students going through the same experience. We had a games rooms which was a great space for us all to socialise. I have made some very close friendships with the other interns and now see them outside of work.
The location of the office was great for me as it meant I was able to move in with my parents which allowed me to save a lot of money on accommodation. This also meant I could drive to work and use the free onsite carpark. It also has great transport links into the centre of London, with a free shuttle bus that take you to the train station from the office.
There is no nightlife directly around the office, but there is a really convenient and fast train link into the centre of London. Feltham offers a fast train to Waterloo so it's really easy to travel, we would often go to Clapham Junction or Richmond. This has never stopped us from going out and socialising after work!
SAP has offered various different activities to get involved with. One of the many opportunities was a visit the V&A art gallery, were SAP had commissioned an art installation around the plastics challenge. We were provided with free travel and a tour of artwork in this collection. Another example would be the Green Team organising a movie night for us in the office with a buffet of various different ethically sourced foods.
