The Role
Thoroughly interesting and insightful. Extensive networking opportunities and rotational work shadowing. Excellent balance of educational lectures and on the job experience.
Shadowing was not remotely patronising; although I lacked technical understanding, the graduates were very patient and clear. Fellow interns were all tremendously welcoming, and the HR staff were always informative, clear and positive.
Excellent support from HR throughout the week; clear timetable and information provided and various talks about the nature and culture of RBS. the shadowing was insightful and enjoyable, and the interview stage was relaxed.
Extremely. The first several days were intensive learning days, where we were informed about almost every aspect of the Group and its work. Day 3 was very long, albeit enjoyable, a 12 hour day starting at 7 including several work rotations. Day four was active although less intense, and day 5 was the assessment centre followed by CSR. There was rarely a spare minute (bar the much needed coffee and lunch breaks) which is exactly what i wanted from the week.
Little, apart from the final day, but that was not the aim of the week. Although we had tasks where we worked with others etc, it was largely a chance to observe and learn from others. CSR on the Friday, however, gave great responsibility in helping the children succeed.
The skills and knowledge will help my transition into an internship seamless and the thorough knowledge of banking I have now gained should prove invaluable
The Company
Vibrant and full of energy
Comprehensive planning had clearly gone into every aspect of the week
Many lectures and rotations to develop understanding as thoroughly as possible
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Next stop, the summer internship (hopefully!). The graduate scheme also looks ideal.
The Culture
Excellent. many networking opportunities and RBS really fostered a good atmosphere between interns and other interns, as well as ensuring all senior staff were friendly and approachable.
Given I had to pay for travel (as I live just within the M25), it was a fairly expensive week. But worth it.
Great final night with the grads!
Final night and CSR provided yet further variety to the week.
