Spring Intern Review

I enjoyed the insight a lot because of the variety of activities and I loved the interactive aspect of the entire program. I think the way the speakers interacted virtually with the Spring Class was truly exceptional and I would highly recommend this program. The amplify trading activity and simulation was a lovely touch.

I felt very valued throughout as the staff would always be checking in on us and making sure that any questions that we may have, would be answered. I think the interactive aspect of this program is what really made it stand out and I look forward to seeing Citi at their office.

To build our financial skills, we had all ur questions asked which included a guidebook to help us through the entire program. We highlighted our specific motivations for working with each bank and Citi truly delivered by accommodating to all the students and I can only speak words of praise about the program.

It has great career applications because, being a non-finance major, it was hard for me to gain real-life applications, and this Spring Week did precisely that. The financial analysis skills, technical analysis skills, problem-solving skills and critical thinking will, no doubt, benefit me greatly in both my degree and my future career path.

The insight was split into three days, given it was virtual. We were given a set schedule right at the beginning which outlined what we would be doing every hour, in slots. This structure followed the business streams: Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, TTS, and Markets. This was then ended with an Amplify Trading Simulation

The atmosphere was very positive because of the interactive and prevalent role all the speakers and staff played in engaging in the discussions with students. Questions were not only answered cogently but often spurred greater discussions which made for a challenging yet stimulating workplace, bearing in mind it was virtual.

They invested a huge amount of time and effort into their Spring Class, evident through both the trading platform, the video platform and the exercises. We were always busy with extra material and were guided in a cogent manner such that we were learning while also talking to some of the most senior positions.

This was probably the most emphasised rhetoric throughout the entire spring week. We were told to ask as many questions as possible and take every opportunity in the Q and A session to gain true insight into a full-time job. We were detailed day-to-day schedules of analysts, associates, vice-presidents and the Head of Departments for EMEA.

The culture at Citi is one that is both accommodating as well as stimulating which was something that was instilled in us throughout the spring week. The staff, all the way to the Head of Departments, were very helpful and eager to answer our questions. Furthermore, throughout the program, we were promoted to challenge any theories or previous schools of thought.

It really opened my eyes to one of the avant-gardes of the finance industry and I particularly look forward to exploring the experience in the summer. I think the fact that we were granted insight into what the day to day lives of the employees was like, really showed me that Citi may be a financial institution that I would work for.

It was a virtual internship given the COVID-19 crisis, hence no travel was needed.
