The Role
It was extremely insightful and enjoyable, meeting some very helpful people along the way and learning in-depth about what it means to have a career in RBS GBM.
Everyone was very approachable and easy to talk to/get on with, so I feel like I really got to know them and could turn to employees for questions with ease.
Support and guidance was excellent. We were given lots of advice on how to get the most out of the week and best ways to excel.
The schedule was perfect! It had just the right balance of seminars and shadowing and other hands-on activities, there was never really a moment in the week where you'd feel bored. But we were also eased through it so we were not too overwhelmed.
The internship was more focused on learning what it is that RBS GBM do, the various roles we can get involved with, how to succeed at an assessment centre/summer internship and shadowing, so there was less opportunity to be given lots of responsibility. However there were a number of group tasks where we would be left to work together and form strategies in a competitive environment.
Skills we were taught were those that can be applied to all life situations. Networking was very important and we were trained professionally to use this skill to its maximum potential in every situation.
The Company
The office, and especially the trading floors, were buzzing with excitement with just the right balance of professionalism and a good laugh. I would love to be a part of this everyday.
The schedule of the overall internship was very well organised and put together, we always knew where we had to be and when.
RBS are very much dedicated to the students development and got many employees on board to help us, ranging from graduates to seniors, and a number of HR staff as well as people from external training academies.

Company Parties/Events
I would love to work for RBS! Its a great firm to be a part of, a fantastic culture of many differing characters, and the week ended with an assessment centre for the summer internship next year, so there is a next stage to participating which is helpful.
The Culture
Its great to be among like-minded young people who are all striving to reach similar goals.
The area being central London meant that there were many restaurants and bars nearby, but slightly more expensive than greater London.
Many accessible bars and clubs nearby but we did not really explore these. There was one social at the end of the week on behalf of the RBS graduates.
We were obliged to undertake a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activity at the end of the week, helping students in a school.
