The Role
I really enjoyed the placement, good mix of social and work life. Lots of events always going on making it impossible not too meet people!
I always felt valued by colleagues. It is clear that IBM put a lot of effort into their placement schemes as all placement students are given real roles and are treated like a normal employee.
You are given guidance and support up to and beyond where you need it. Both mentors and managers are always there for you whether the issue is personal or professional and you always feel supported.
This varied massively. Some days there would be little to do however, there was always the option to go out and find work in other areas of the business. You could either do this yourself or you could do this through getting in contact with other people.
Again it was the case that you got as much as you were comfortable with. If you wanted lots you could push for it, however, if you didn't feel confident then you could have less. The one constant was that your manager and mentor would always push you to do more!
I believe the main skill I developed was improving my professionalism. This is not only going to help me at university with assignments such as presentations, but I also believe this will help me when it comes to going back into the world of work upon graduation.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was very positive. People were always very friendly and there was always something going on. Whether it was an event with clients that you could go and listen to or a drinks social there was always something going to to get involved with, leaving me with a positive impression.
Very, all very professional and organised.
Lots, putting aside lots of time and effort to help me.

Yes, however, you have to be active and find it.
The office was on the Southbank so very very high.
Good fun with Covent Garden etc, however, very expensive.
