The Role
Was looking forward to it for a while, and the week didn't fail to meet my expectations. Gained an amazing insight in to the wholesale/investment banking division, and got a real feeling for the culture of the bank.
Shadowed 3 employees, 2 of which were really welcoming and did their very best to explain their job.
HR staff and current employees were really welcoming to questions and tried their very best to assist. Emails and business cards were often dished out, if not they were done so upon asking for them.
Generally quite busy, but being a crammed spring week I took more away from it.
Was a learning programme, wasn't expected to do anything apart from attend for my own benefit!
Met really open and friendly fellow interns, and generally made me more confident as a person to approach people and find out about them. Having an insight in to what employees on certain desks do on a day to day basis, I am much better equipped to decide where I want to be within an investment bank.
The Company
Everyone was always excited by the scheduled events, and keen to learn.
Brilliant structure to the week, began mainly with introductory talks and detailed lessons in to investment banking terminology and working. Ended the week shadowing and taking part in simulations from front middle and back office.
Felt valued and cared for whilst merely being a spring week intern. Those visiting from outside London were put up in rather posh apartments.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Assessment centre on last day for placements on summer internship, with a relatively high uptake.
The Culture
People were always trying to organise dinners out after the days.
It is London after all. However, lunch was always provided, and drinks were provided on two evenings.
Social event at a London club on the last day to celebrate.
Took park in CSR activity for a morning with primary school children.
