    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This year has gone beyond expectation, at the beginning I was afraid that it will be as everyone was telling me that it will turn up to be boring, I won't have any work to do, and will just be treated as intern. But this year I had a lot of work to do and the amount of knowledge I gained is huge.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Me and my colleagues have been like a one big family especially the SE interns, we have always been helping each other on everything, whenever I wanted any help from them I just ask and I always found help. Also if anyone found that there is a good opportunity that we all can get involved in he just let us know.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Since the first week, we have been given guidance and everything was clear. In terms of my role, there were a few main point missing which was at the beginning a challenge until everything sorted out. But we tried to avoid this and had documents for our next years interns so they don't fall on the same thing as us.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It was balanced, the flow was that I get quit a lot to do in a couple of weeks then after I finish all that work it stays quite for a week or something then the curve rise again. And that calm week was good to catch up and write my reflections and finish all my uni work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Surprisingly, I was gives quite a huge responsibilities and actual work that will be used. In addition, most of the work that I have done added to the team and it's not just some work that will be drafted and I have ensured that because I wanted to feel that I actually add to the team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have gained a massive amount of knowledge throughout this year, this knowledge I kept it focused in my area in which I made sure that I increase all my software development skills and that's what happened. Most of the training that I have received and the tasks were around this area and that's what I wanted

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was good, I didn't feel like it was too strict, we were free to do what we wanted as long as it was under the rules. My manager was very friendly and the whole team used to go for morning coffees most of the days which was a good opportunities to have.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Over all the year it was pretty organised and structured well. From the first week we have been gives the instruction clear and have been told what to do and what not to do. Maybe adding more events to the year would have made it better but I still happy with what it was.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company has always been supported to any ideas we had and wanted to develop. They always wanted us to go to events and experience talking to customers also they always encouraged us to come up with new ideas to leave value to the company and not just keep taking knowledge.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to come back to Oracle, I felt good this year and I felt that I could fit within this company. Also, the area I was working on was really good and it added a lot to my knowledge and I would love to come back to the same team.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We used to organize social events by ourselves which we go out and hang out. We didn't have that much events as a whole interns except a couple but we used to do that by ourselves which was at the end the same results. But it would have been better if the company itself organised a few especially at the beginning of the year
