    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my experience at Disney, there were plenty of new opportunities for me to be a part of. Unfortunately due to the pandemic certain opportunities were lost such as traveling and being in the office but still a good experience overall.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team is super supportive and are always there to help, I could not fault them. They always stressed that no question is a silly question which was really comforting being new with so many questions!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • You are given a supervisor to work under which is great. I had multiple catch ups weekly with my manager to raise any questions and queries which was really helpful.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There is plenty of work to get on with. The work given to you is real work too not just basic admin work which you might expect to be given to an intern. My manager was also great at ensuring I'm not being over stretched with work.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given great amounts of responsibility, being given new projects that had never been done before creating the whole thing from scratch, then checking what I had done with management. The work that I produced has been shared with teams across the globe.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The main skill I have learnt is how to communicate effectively within a global team. This is really helpful in the future when applying for jobs and when working virtually at university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Unfortunately the office was closed due to covid-19, this meant I did my entire experience remotely via zoom. Although the team tried their best to help you join conversations it is difficult to join conversations having only met everyone virtually with limited time on zoom calls.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall the organization was okay. This was difficult to organize due to so many unknowns because of the pandemic and lockdown. Unfortunately I was not told I would not be in the office and wasted many 10 months rent moving to London.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Disney was great for this, they had a program called the DIP. In this program you were given numerous training sessions over the placement period learning things such as project management, person brands and much more.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Working from home

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Disney do not offer a graduate scheme so you would need to reapply once finishing university (given that there are roles available). Its hard to judge as I have been working remotely this year but I would consider coming back.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Unfortunately Covid meant I only met many of the interns virtually. In normal circumstances I feel that the social aspect would have been great within the company.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Due to the pandemic it meant that you could not socialize much in Hammersmith. I moved back home during the 2nd lockdown. That being said rent was between £650-700 a month (bills inc) and a pint at the pub was around £6 unless you went to a Weatherspoon's!

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There was plenty of pubs and great tube connections, although most of these places were closed due to the pandemic.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was the occasional virtual social drink. In pre/post pandemic scenarios there would be many more activities. There was the opportunity to volunteer with the moment makers charity which was a great experience!
