The Role
The management is excellent, all of the management I have experienced has been very organised, approachable and interested in my placement and requirements. I have taken part in 3 different roles, which have given me a varied experience of the company. I found the student kick-start initiative project to be a really useful tool to socialise with other students, develop myself as an individual, and having the opportunity to explore new technologies.
I have been made to feel as a permanent member of the company. My colleagues have welcomed me into several office initiatives, and allowing my opinions and thoughts to be heard. I was trusted to plan a large event for my office, which involved a high profile speaker and over 50 colleagues including our clients - this event was made possible by being valued by my colleagues. Within my project, my colleagues have treated me as a functional member of the team. Giving me responsibilities that other's might have, allowing me to experience my placement to the fullest.
The management on my placement has been impeccable. My management has been extremely organised, tentative and encouraging. My placement was planned out in 3-month epochs that allowed me to experience different parts of the business, each epoch of an interest that I would have liked to develop or to aid in personal growth. This has been organised by my management.
Most days I experience a high work-load. However, I very much enjoy a fast-paced work environment and tend to thrive. However due to the current COVID restrictions, at the start of the restrictions I have experienced days with lower workloads - due to no fault of the company. This was ultimately dealt with and I am now experiencing a higher workload.
During my placement, I felt that I was given a lot of responsibility. In projects, I always took responsibility of my own work and was treated as a regular member of staff. I am currently on a project by myself, allowing myself to manage the project and produce work that I am able to take full responsibility for.
I have not only been trained by professionals in fields that I have interested in, but have been provided with licenses to learning platforms such as PluralSight, and textbooks. Although my placement is not directly related to my degree, my management has ensured that it is as relevant as possible. I have learned many generalized skills such as organisation that will aid greatly with my degree. As well as this I have learned many degree relevant skills that I will be able to apply in my studies.
The Company
I found the general atmosphere of the office to be very friendly, no one individual felt unwilling to help or to have a chat. My office also had a Sports and Social Club, of which I took part in event planning. The individuals who attended the events were very friendly and the events were always a lot of fun. The only issue was only a small portion of the office attended, during my course on the placement the population of the club increased due to the events. I hope to see this continue. Additionally my office has a Working Together Scheme for office based perks such as recycling, plants and charity collections. I found this to really bring the office together.
My placement was very well organised. My management split the placement into 4 epochs of 3 months, to plan out interests that I could take part in. This ended up being split into one 6-month period and two 3-month. Each epoch involved taking part in a project that was relevant to me and my interests. Additionally, the social activities and events I attended on behalf of work were always very well organised.
The company invested in Pluralsight license for myself, so I have the ability to self-teach many skills that will be valuable. I have also had many national trips in the country which have been key to my development. As well as this I have been entrusted with a work phone and laptop to allow working from home.

Very appealing, the chance to take part in topics I am interested in are a big factor in this for me. As well as this the graduate salary is very good, with bonuses and pay rises included. I would very much like the chance to join the company after my graduation and progress within the company. I have been told that I will be offered a job, and I am waiting for the contract.
The Culture
My office had a much smaller student population than others, but this has allowed us to form very good friendships and form a community. The student initiative allowed us to meet with other students in events and presentations which has been excellent for socializing with other students within the company.
My office is based in Bristol, and the area is based on the outskirts. However, I live in Bath which is only a short commute away. I have heard the cost of living in the area is reasonable but the social life is limited around the office due to location. the center of Bristol however is a hub for socializing and only a short distance away.
In the area of Bristol where the office is, the night life is non-existent as it is on the outskirts. However Bristol has an amazing nightlife and the city center is only around a 20 minute drive away. And London from Bristol is not a far journey on the train for the nightlife.
The office has a Sports and Social Club and many events including social events and charity and volunteering, these events are very frequent and occur at least around once or twice a month. These events give a very good chance to take part in events outside of work. Additionally, myself and several colleagues would often take part in activities together completely separate from work.
