    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Loved my work placement at Oracle! There is so much opportunity for growth. It is very friendly working environment and you feel very valued. My team was very supportive and made sure that there were a lot of opportunities for personal development.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt part of the team and did not feel that I was just an “intern” I was treated equally to the other employees, by given different responsibilities and asked my opinion on important projects we do as a team. I really hope I can stay in touch with my team and my manager outside Oracle too :)

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had regular 121s with my managers, program coordinator and my mentor, this has really helped me to work on my targets and I got all the support I needed. I can’t thank my manager, she is amazing person and she has always helped me, she was happy to sit down and go through the work for me.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was quite busy during most of my time. Although, during quieter periods I would go for project hunting. :) For example, once I finish working on one task I would talk to my team and I would then be given something else to do. I

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great environment, everyone is very friendly and happy talk or help you. Everyone seems very approachable.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall it was excellent from Oracle’s side, although there was one downside is the the payroll contractors they took very long to reply to emails, couldn’t answer any of our questions properly, I wish we have a different payroll company, that would made our intern experience better.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Definitely been given a lot opportunities to attend events, to do public speaking and improve other soft skills, also had a huge selection of free online trainings. Another very Useful part was that our program coordinator organized meetings with the country leaders from around the business.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are current employees who have been interns and have now came back. Although it all depends on the head count for the role that you are applying

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Became very close with fellow interns, hopefully we will continue to be friends after we leave Oracle. As an intern group we had different social events, organised days out and just had a great time together at work and outside of work.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Can’t really say the exact prices and I stayed in London and worked in reading office, so it’s hard to say what are the cost of living as commuting by train everyday isn’t something cheap, train ticket per day would cost me £20 which = £400 per month.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Standard nightlife, has nice places to go, didn’t go to any of the clubs, so can’t say much on that. There are some nice pubs and bars and of course places for food too.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are a lot of charity and volunteering events to get involved in. It’s a very great way to network and meet so many new people. I can pretty much say there are activities for everything. Definitely worth getting involved.
