The Role
Placement was fantastic overall, very rewarding and with a great opportunity for development. Really enjoyed the production plant as a whole, was great experience to see the factory at work and get to work on different parts of it. Very well rounded with a lot of opportunity for different things.
Was given lots of responsibility right from the off and treated as a normal employee. Not too many people at the plant compared to other companies so got the chance to get to know a lot of people, with a family atmosphere defintely present in the plant on the whole.
Given a great amount of responsibility, but the support and guidance was always there and I never felt like I couldn't ask for help or assistance. This was the case for the whole team who were keen to see my developement whilst also providing all the help I would need.
I was as busy as I wanted to be, plenty of opportunity to take on new and exciting tasks if I felt like I didn't have enough to do. The rest of the team were keen to step in and provide me with tasks and expereinces if I ever needed.
Given a great amount of responsibility right from the beginning, I felt like I was a valued member of the team and got given the same work opportunities as did everyone else. I definitely felt the trust and support from the team though from the responsibility I was given overall.
The skills I recieved definitely aided me in my further career, as the experience channelled the kind of work that I want to do in the future. In terms of my development for the rest of my degree, not so much, I feel like the skills acquired here were different.
The Company
Great atmosphere in the office, everyone open to talking to you yet still enough space and time for privacy if you needed to get work done. Nice open plan office and close to the rest of the team to really give the family feel of the plant which I enjoyed.
Very well organised, the team were expereinced in taking students and knew exactly what was needed and how to set up my time at the comapny as smoothly as possible. They knew exactly how to handle the interns and I could tell that the role was well refined and planned.
They were very keen to make sure that I got the most out of my placement, giving me ample opportunities for development and personal training. I feel like I gained a lot of skills which I can take on after graduation to different jobs, to prepare me for the workplace.
I felt like this was definitely lacking, there seemed to be nothing in place to take on interns after their placement had finished. I would have appreciated the opportunity to find a way back into the company after graduation, even if not guarenteed, a potential route would have been desireable.
The Culture
Nothing official organised between the interns, but there were enough in the company to have a really good community, and the plant was small enough that everyone got to know everyone. This is very much what you make it, you can get as much or as little involvement as desired.
Nothing out of the ordinary.
Didn't experience.
Plenty there - it's what you make of it.
