    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed a lot my intern expierience. The fact that we were up to 70 interns working at the same factory made it so much fun outside the job enviroment as well.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • AT the end of the day I was an intern, but I never felt undervaluated or similiar during my time here. There were same times that the tasks I was given they weren't a challenge at all for me, but after asking for more responsability they would delegate easily.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was always on top of me taking care that my placement was what I was expecting and that I was learning. If I needed anything he was always there to support.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It depended on the days, some days my coffee breaks would take only 5 minutes because of the amount of work that I had, but usually I had some extra free time which I could use to try to create my own projects.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsability-wise I was quite surprised. I was in charge of ordering key components for the production which if they weren't there they could not produce at all, so when I was taking holidays, or during the coronavirus pandemic and being furloughed I had to make sure in advance that everything was going to be right till my return.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learnt in my position are not going to help me much in my future career, but what I wanted to get from the placement was the experience of working in a big company and learning how it worked.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was in a very samll office of 4 people with a very relaxed atmosphere. The meetings that we would have up to 10 people, they had always funny comments on the and fun times. Sometimes getting personal which made us create some deeper connections with the members of the team.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organized. They are use to having lot's of interns so they know how to deal with the interns so they are fine and making the most of their time on the company. Very well structed from the first day with tours of the plant, rides on the cars...

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They invested a lot of time and people. I wnet as well for lots of different courses that an external company was giving to Rolls Royce learning about comunication skills, how to have conversations with your managers, time manadgement... Then my manager spent a lot of time wiith me, making sure that I was on the right track.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am not coming back to Rolls-Royce not because i didn't like it but because I want to experience different companies on different sites of the world. Rolls-Royce is a great company to work for but you cannot climb the ladder very easily wich for a young guy like me that's what I want

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social between the rest of the interns was amazing. This includes partying, gymming together, different kind of sports. Super fun. As we were so many (70 interns) we would find all type of people who we were able to make different connections which I hope I will keep in the next years.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived on a house in Chichester, a tiny village on the south of England which didn't make the housing prize very expensive. Under £400 including bills, cheap food,as we had ALDI and Lidl near us, and the most expensive thng would be cinema, or other plans which involved paying for entretainment, but always worth it.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife could have been a bit better, but taking into consideration the area I was living in, Chichester, with only one night club, we made the most of it, enjoying our time here. The best part I would say was the house parties organized by the different houses of interns.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Opportunities always are, you just need to look for them. Joined the gym, rock climbing, some salsa daning, french lessons, there are football teams... It depends how much of your time you are willing to spend after a busy day at work. After work you just want to chill and relax, but once you enter in a rutine with different activities it's so cool.
